My 1909 VDB graded ms 67+ is finer than most every other 1909 VDB graded ms 67+

It is certainly finer than the sole graded ms 68 red .
Why do you think PCGS will not grade my coin ms 68 red ?

At least you still have pride of ownership. But I do know how you feel - the Knoxville MS68 1878-S trade dollar has annoyed me for nearly two decades. Took a while to be able to accept that 'chit happens' in the grading game and that I want to be remembered as a collector who stuck to my own standards.
Perhaps six times is the charm...
PS Why not turn it "blue" and go for MS-69.
Perhaps there is a numerical ceiling
When grading certain coins . One may say political, but I have seen when the barrier or glass ceiling is broken, more will be graded.

I understand that the sole graded 1903 IHC PR68RD was submitted 24 times before it finally got the 68. Or maybe submit it with another 67+ for regrade?

We debate this all the time and I get. just as frustrated. There is no real objective standard to measure by. Until someone comes up with that, then the debate will continue.
Give it to one of the "seasoned" up-graders. Their 3 submissions carries probably carries more bang for the buck than our 3.
Get a gold sticker and forgettaboutit...
I bet Andy can get it in the proper holder if you ask nice.

In seeing the title of this thread, it reminded me of when I bought an MS67+RD 1909 VDB, the only one at the time, but then ended up reselling it because I thought my MS67RD example was finer.
Bought that MS67RD before they had plus grading and went through a few dozen MS67RD 1909 VDB coins before choosing that one. Still have that MS67RD and it's nicer than most MS67+RD examples I've seen since...
Can't worry about the grades too much. They are a bit more important at the time you are buying the coin, but you can't control what happens with grading of other coins after that time... I've learned to live with that and not have it affect what I think about the coins I already have and like.

Make sure you use the right Andy. I'd probably get a 66.

You pay for an opinion.... which, like a certain physical aperture, everyone has.... and, like that aperture, they may be similar, but are not necessarily the same...
Everyone knows grading is subjective, and yet, we have these discussions over and over again. Strange that we do not have much discussion when someone scores an upgrade...... oh well, my cynic is showing....

i am the first to admit that I don't really understand grading. I have 2 MS65's that I think are really nice -- however, I wonder if I am falling to old affliction of thinking everything I own is undergraded. Probably!

Maybe the REAL problem is that the one MS-68 is really an MS-67 that slipped through, and you're chasing a ghost?
