I was just catching up on this thread after a long time and I noticed someone poo-pooing the idea of this thread and saying how morbid it is.....
Like someone said, if you are an autograph collector it is very relevant. I collect signed Topps Cardinals team sets, which I have chronicled in a thread here since 2007. I have a spreadsheet and I have noted the year of the death of each player. For the Cardinals from 1952 and forward, everyone has passed away until 1958 Topps Lloyd Merritt. He is 90 years young.

Death is a part of life. It's reported on a daily basis. I personally keep track of the remaining Brooklyn Dodgers as they pass on my blog. I find content like this fascinating.
Unfortunately, the Dodgers and final 52 Topps guys are running neck and neck with each other, with 2 overlaps as well.
Player Birthdate (age) - Debut with Brooklyn
I collect Steve Garvey, Dodgers and signed cards. Collector since 1978.

Dodgers great Carl Erskine dies at age 97
I believe he was the last living member of the Red Heart set. Sad news, great guy by all accounts.
All these years I never thought to look up red heart. Seems it was a dog food!
Do we have an updated list of living players from the 1952 Topps set ?? I also think Tommy Brown is in the oldest set....1949 Bowman ???
Buckshot! Still kickin' at 96! This image is from 1945--age 17. Hit a couple homers that year! Heck, he wasn't even "Tommy" yet...

RIP Oysk.
Oh, that's awful news.

Baseball isn't a thing in the UK, but is collecting baseball cards big money in the US?
