The Grade/Auth sub popped but they missed all the minimum grades. I don't plan to post until it's fixed. It'll probably be a couple days. We went through it on the phone yesterday.

I didn't have any cards in a tall boy sub, just regular sized, but what did you find out regarding the min grade/authentic situation. Did they take care of it? Or, will we need to resubmit those cards under a different sub if we are just wanting an with grade?

I have no inside knowledge, but I have been in this situation before.

PSA, at least at this point, does not accommodate requests like "please holder as authentic if grade is below X". If you specify a min grade and the card falls below that, it won't be holdered at all.

What happens is, if you catch it and it seems like Mike has, that you can get PSA to manually change those min grade cards to authentic. No re-submission required, just some legwork on PSA's end and a delay in processing the order.

I can't say that is what will happen here, but that is my experience.

I'd like to add a clarification; PSA will accommodate the following if you put it in the note section of your sub form:

"Please assign a numerical grade to each item whenever possible. If for some reason a numerical grade cannot be assigned to a particular item, please then label that item as Authentic as a 2nd option and seal in a holder instead of returning it raw ungraded. Thank you."

It may result in your cards being slabbed as Authentic with no qualifiers, or they may be labeled as Authentic-Altered w/ a Trimmed or Recolored qualifier on the flip, depending on your card's specific situation.

The way I read Casey's post, there is a subtle difference between what he described vs. the request in my post here.

Yes, that is correct. They'll label very, very low grade items "authentic", but they won't, label as "authentic" cards that fall below some minimum grade that you specify, i.e. less than EX 5, cards with auto grades less than 10, etc.

Hey fellas, back from Europe this afternoon (19 hours door to door w/ a nonstop from Paris to LA - UGH!). I have every intention of getting these darned cards in hand this week. I plan to call PSA again Monday morning. I talked to them three times while overseas but knowing I couldn't pick up until this week, I wasn't overdoing it. They're aware of all min grade items and they're working to correct. Expect daily updates this week.

PSA just got back to me. They will have the min grade issue fixed on the tallboy sub today. I asked them about the fixes to the other one for min grades and when the third one will pop. Will continue to update as they reply. I told them I'd REALLY like to pick up all cards this week if at all possible.

As this is a consistent problem for PSA and minimum grades, you'd think it would be in their best interest to improve the process. Funny that they're willing to waste so much time/money on redoes. I'm a small time submitter and have my share of "issues" with almost every submission.

OK so PSA has not corrected the other two subs yet. They're having system issues and they want to wait until our rep gets back to solve - that said, he's on vacation for a couple weeks - UGH!

BUT! In the interim, I've suggested this - let's pop all subs and have members with issues on min grades not being done correctly email me with the ones that have to be corrected (clearly some will have no issues because they're beyond the min grade). Perhaps by doing this we reduce the workload of what needs to be corrected and they'll proceed without waiting. The issue is that they're holding the pop because 100 cards over two subs are impacted. Let's say we wind up popping half of those over the min grades anyway - then the workload for correction is significatly decreased. What do you guys think? I think both the remaining two subs will post today in this scenario.

I don't believe so. I actually think it's more likely that they ARE fixed - and sooner. It's my opinion but it's based on the conversations I'm having with Nick at PSA.

I am fine with getting them popped. I think I only did 2 with min grades, knowing they would be Auth grades. I'm good with figuring it out after, just so the subs pop.

Fellas, I'm surprised by this one:

Why would they grade the other 9 and call this one authentic? In my experience N0 doesn't mean altered, or am I mistaken? All I wanted was authentic, so I'm happy with it, but curious as to why this one and not the other 9.

Does anyone know if the N4 designation definitely means that the auto is questionable, or could it be a situation where they deem the card itself to be questionable?

Thanks for your hard work Mike. The only one for me was the 52 Spahn. I wanted that authentic. If it is going to jam people up though, then just leave it be. It is a PSA 1. Would rather it say Authentic, but good either way.

FYI I heard from PSA again. I suspect it may be the end of the week or Monday before the last one pops and it should be corrected in advance. And they'll be correcting the others - all of them. Don't feel like you need to make concessions when nobody is asking you to - first rule of negotiation LOL!!!

Yeah, this and other recent subs I've got hammered with N4 and N9s on older stuff. Seriously thinking about trying SGC. Will SGC autos cross to PSA with any luck? Can't be any worse than my luck of late.

sgc reputation is comparable to psa imo (i think they're better in some area), just their resale value is not as high. they have an $8 special this month which i sent in for.

...and i know mike says the 3rd sub could take until monday to pop, but that still hasn't prevented me from checking the board 15x a day. sickness!

If you think you're checking the board often, that's nothing. I just keep the submission page open and refresh at least 7 times and hour. Believe me, you guys will know as soon as I do.
