I'll be brave under the assumption you wouldn't be posting it just to share...Is it a whizzed set of business strikes? The "die polish" around the date of the Washington is what caught my eye initially.
I've seen one exactly like that and it was as ModCrewman states, whizzed BS
I'll wait for a few more posts to comment.

Yes, it's a jazzed up set of business strikes that is a Proof set in name (on the holder) only. It reminds me of the advice in the old days, "Know your Proofs or know your dealer." Breen also referenced this sort of thing with 1936 Proof sets in his book about Proof coins.
Looks harshly cleaned, not whizzed. Either way it destroys the value to about melt. I hope you didn't spend much money on it OR return it to where it came from if you can. They are not proofs. I'll promise you the buffalo nickel isn't, nor the others from what I can see.
I'm very sorry to see this.
At least the cent is nice...
If the coins weren't inorganic they would have screamed out in pain during the torture.
It looks like it might be real, just cleaned or polished. Hard to tell unless I can see the mirrors, or lack thereof.
How much for just the penny ? lol
There were quite a few made up 1936 “proof” sets that had been buffed with "jeweler’s rouge”.
They fooled a lot of people and this looks like one of them. Originally unc coins of course.
(And still!!)

Looks like a set of polished business strike coins.
In honor of the memory of Cpl. Michael E. Thompson
the dime and quarter look polished - I can not tell from the pics about the other 3, but I would pass unless in hand.
If they are whizzed/polished MS coins pawned off as proof that would be a heck of a sell difference.
Polished business strikes made to look like proofs.
The Buff is Smoothed for sure. Old term was Whizzed.
I am never sure of sets in those holders.

Glad to see that everyone caught the issues. Totally polished business strike coins. The cent is OK, but pretty much worthless. All the detail is gone. The coins even rattle in the holder....never had a real proof set the coins rattle. The edges on real proof coins are slightly knife like and sometimes are hard to get in and out of the capital holders.
Total value on the supposed 1936 proof set $12. Dealer wanted $5200 for the set....price too good.
I'm a little worried the guy knew (and he had to have known) the set was bogus.

Agree on this set being polished business strikes, but I have seen some low-end legitimate 1936 Proof Sets priced under 5k.....like PR60-62 quality with a nasty cent.

I'll take your word on the cent...it sure looks special in those pics.
the feathers on the eagle half are too weak for a proof even in low grade
Anybody that knows coins, knows these are not proofs. Shady.
The Capital plastic holder faces are absolutely authentic, but it seems to have a screw loose....
Maybe if the dealer buffs them a little more, they'll eventually become proof. Yeah, that's it.

No QA sticker - I'll pass.
Definitely not proof, as stated in all the posts above... I would say whizzed... some of the cleaning lines are very obvious...I would not even pay face for that set.... Cheers, RickO
