doubling visible on the eyelid, upper lip, throat, and nostril. Now there are two DDO’s on the 1916p.
disovered and reported to variety vista by Lewis Fletcher.

This one should be indistinguishable from a "normal" coin with any kind of circulation wear

Just one final thought. > @DCW said:

Actually no as I have seen 1915 doubled die obverse nickels which have been known for over 20 years in lower
grades, having the same type of doubling that this coin has, and being quite obvious as to the doubling of the
eyelid, nostril, and nose. Problem is for most people, myself included, you have to use a 10x class to see it.
but if it is a DDO you will see it even in low grade coins.

Certainly a coin for the specialist this 1916 DDO,Die #2. What magnification power was used for OP image?

Look at the bottom of the upper eyelid and the inside of the nostril. It's not strong but it's there.

This coin was discovered by Lewis Fletcher in February of this year.
Similar doubled dies were found for 1913 type 2, 1914, 1915,1917 and 1921.
These don’t seem to turn up very often.
See the variety vista website for a complete listing of buffalo doubled obverse and revers dies.

I did notice on the variety vista website, maintained and updated by Dr. James Wiles, that some other the pictures, for example the 1916 DDO die 2 which we are talking about here, as well as the 1917 DDO covered in another thread, many of the pictures included for each do not appear to have any doubling. For this one the eyelid, nostril, and upper lip do appear to be slightly doubled but I can see no doubling on some of the other pix included, which is confusing.

If you want to look for the 1915, 1916, and 1917 doubled obverse dies you will need to carry around a good glass, I
would say 20x if you can find one. And there are also 1913 type 2, and 1914 doubled obverse dies which are similar to
the ones mentioned above. Good luck!
