Buffalo nickel experts- Is this a 3 1/2 leg?

Based on the images I've seen, I'm thinking this 1927-D is- what say you? The coin has had a rough life as you can see, but it does have good detail.

I would say yes it is. Although I do not seek these out I am familiar with the variety . Looks like a solid 3-1/2 legged Buff for sure. Very nice find!!

This one wont holder due to t he damage though.

Could be a new die as it doesn't look at all like one known die. That die generally has the leg uniformly weak instead of the "peg-leg" effect your coin shows. Your coin more resembles the 1917-D, right down to the "skinny" hoof.
It does seem to be.. though the leg looks a tad stronger than some I have seen.. just a different die I assume.. Cheers, RickO

On the reverse, the "T" and "E" of STATES has a bit of a lamination or struck thru evidence. Laminations are common on Buffs.
No A three leg has one leg missing and a second weak, Also has a die crack or at least mine did.
