I love it because it is not the same old boring (sorry Ricko) white Roosie......PLUS it is the RPM 501 and will upgrade my white 65! :)

That type of toning, which interfers with a clear view of the design, is not my thing, but every collector is different. I like this coins when they get some subtle colors around the edges, like some of the pieces in a set I own that has been in Seiz holder for many years.

Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

I'm not at either end of the spectrum but I do like it.
    Congrats on your upgrade.

    I'm leaning toward liking it.
    My first reaction was positive.

Dip it. Looks like a 67 to me. I think they downgraded it for the toning.

Not the best toning that I've seen but I find it acceptable. Congrats on the upgrade.

Cranberry toning............what is there not to like. And an another undetectable to the magnified eye or any eye for that matter rpm to boot ;)

Are you saying you don't see the RPM??

  • StoogeStooge Posts: 4,675 ✭✭✭✭✭

I like the dime, but not sure its the FS-501. You have the middle of the S with a second S under the middle of the letter. In the CPG book, that is clean. I would say this is a different 500 RPM dime.

Yes on the dime, no on the 501.

It is the 501 ....I guarantee it. I have it in hand and have compared it to my 65. The pups are all there. It is the 501. :)

Okay, great and glad to hear. I was just giving my opinion and just looked at the CPG book and thought it was different.

What do you want for it?

Somehow I just knew you would say that. Enjoy your new dime Jon. Send it in for review and see if you can get it into a FB holder.

Paul......you know me and the "bands". I don't play that game. I will look at the bands later. There are no FB's for this variety. There aren't many total actually.

Am I the only one that sees a fingerprint in the toning lines across the cheek & jaw?

    Congrats on the upgrade though.

You have to send in your dime for the designation, so if it comes back with FB's then 1) It makes the dime worth more and 2) It tells me that that variety can be found in FB. That is a lot of info considering that some varieties do not come with FB's.

Get ur head on straight Mr.! ;)

The variety - interesting. The toning - a negative.

Very cool coin, especially as part of such a comprehensive set, as a type coin of the design maybe not, but i do love the toning.

I've never seen that shade of green on a fake toned coin, that green and the reds just about prove its natural, imo. Pretty

Jon, I call that type of tarnish 'spittoon tarnish'....If I find any like it, they would likely be at the bottom of a spittoon... (I do not think they have them anymore... used to be a few in every bar). :D:D Cheers, Ricko
