I dont know the history of that coin but I have a theory on the toning. I have 6 that are more wildly toned than this one that all came out of a velvet display box. Only the silver issues were toned nicely. The clads looked like junk.
Any coin that NGC puts a star on has superior eye appeal. When color is the order of the day and the picture provided looks like the one above the picture should have gone into the garbage can and should never be used for anything. That said, the color is excellent. Your image is 100x better than NGC's in this case.
If you do what you always did, you get what you always got.
Here's another JFK from those velvet boxes... if you dont like the NGC coin, you wont like the PCGS one much... fingerprints and all but this is indicative of the colors imparted by the 3rd party after market storage...
I could live with it with the exception of the spottiness. The spots aren't going to go away so I wouldn't buy it. That said, I don't collect halves so maybe that's why I could easily pass it up. As for the pics I like yours much better. Looks like you used more lighting than they did.

No history, but I do like that end-of-roll toning!!!!!!
One of the nicest Kennedy's that I have seen.
No, don't know the history but holy crap that baby has got some color.

I need to send them off to our host eventually.
I like that half!!!
Many members on this forum that now it cannot fit in my signature. Please ask for entire list.
I do know that the coin might not look as nice as the image!! NGC has it looking like this!

Lots of color but a lot of distractions as well. Wouldn't pay moon money.
The untoned spots in the toned areas take away the value of the toning for me. I know others will feel differently and that's fine.

I like the year, but not the tone of this half dollar.

I'm assuming the rev. is white....looks like end-roller toning.
It's a 1967 Kennedy half ... common coin with what some consider attractive toning ... I'm not one of them. A coin I wouldn't pay a premium for.
A coin I would walk right past... not even consider. The tarnish is bad enough, but the spots look like some progressive disease....Cheers, RickO

When I first looked at it, it was "meh". Then my brain processed it properly and I love it.
Kinda dark for my taste but a well struck piece and it received a star so it must be a looker.
Pass. Not a fan of splotchy toning.

It's in the wrong right coast TPG holder. It needs to be in the left coast TPG holder.

Weird enough that I actually like it.

Nice coin, from the same owner as several other toned Half Dollars we sold on Sunday.
