Dan Carr certainly makes some great fantasy overstrikes, but he has also produced some excellent medals for coin clubs through the years. Post your favorites. Here is one of mine. Love that Peace Dollar obverse design.....

It's amazing how fast time flies and great to see the progression of time through coin club medals.
Picked this up back in 2012. This is one of the earlier pieces with selective gold plating.
I have several of Dan's medals that were made for other clubs... but of course my favorites are the ones he made for our local club, the Glendale Coin Club... we've had them done each of the last three years and here's mine in pure gold:
Michael Kittle Rare Coins --- 1908-S Indian Head Cent Grading Set --- No. 1 1909 Mint Set --- Kittlecoins on Facebook --- Long Beach Table 448
I shared this one in another thread recently, but figured not everyone who looks here may have seen it... my 2nd favorite coin club medal (after the GCC medals above).
2016 Antiqued Silver Knights of the Coin Table Medal by Daniel Carr with a very cool incused design. Only 7 of this antiqued variety were minted. Need to show a video of the coin as there's a really neat hologram effect on the piece:

Those are all very nice.... Dan does great work.... Cheers, RickO
Here is a club members special from a striking ceremony for the Colorado Springs Numismatic Society 50th Anniversary Medal ~ overstruck on a Franklin Half Dollar inside a Red Cloud Sioux Brass Ring Token. Quite an impressive bimetallic example of this 2016 issue.
I had to get these cause I was born in Glendale in 59

Here is the Silver Satin and PL set from the 2012 Colorado Springs Coin Club. The gilt overlay simply stunning.....

What great looking examples of Dan's work! Here is the silver satin and PL set from the 2016 Colorado Springs Numismatic Society 50th Anniversary. Nothing better than a 1916 SLQ...
One of my favorite 'sword in the stone' designs from the 2011 Knights Of The Coin Table (KOTCT) series...!
Great KotCT medal @Voyageur ! Here are a few of mine. I love the theme on these!
Nice collection !

Nice pair.
My only 'Gold" one (so far).....
Is that a D.C. Piece? Ngc is grading them now? Regardless it's a very nice medal!

Thanks, BruceS...Yes, the 40th Anniversary Liberty Seated Collectors Club (LSCC) medal was designed and struck by Mr. Carr. Much nicer in hand than in my sadly lacking images. The club gave the members the option to have them encapsulated by NGC. They were not graded and have no certification number which may have been part of the requirement / decision process with NGC at the time. They were also available in silver...
Was fortunate to win these from the 2014 Glendale Coin Club Raffle. Thanks Mike.
Wow. A Carr in top 2 plastic. I wonder why NGC didn't at least put the weight and maybe finess too on them though. Now if only our hosts would begin even at an ungraded generic level. It would be a start. I really do like what ANACS does with them though... ICG not so much
Agree 100%. A generic PCGS holdered Dan Carr Medal would be a sight to behold for sure ! Perhaps some day.......
This showed up to day. On the edge it looks like it's stamped "Bob Muckeye McKay"

I didn't know they were edge inscribed. Thanks for the heads-up.

I did find out that he was a member of the club that had passed away, so they put his name on the tokens in his honor.
His name was not put on the over strikes.

My newest addition, the 2015 So-Called Dollar Fellowship 2nd Annual Gathering. silver satin, mintage of 52...
Another NEWP ~ 2009 Knights of the Coin Table, silver satin, mintage of 27....
Got my satin piece in this weekend, same piece, different angles.
A nice 2015 Ft. Collins Coin Club, die pair 1 and 2 set of medals with both Satin and PL finishes....
...how the 'other side' looks in PL ~ Nice !
I really like Dan's work. I am a member of the Knights of the Coin Table forum and can validate that statement above about Muckeye. He did pass away and we had his name placed on the edge as a tribute. It was not done on the over strikes as noted above.
Is anyone interested in the 2016 KOTCT over strikes? I've got an extra of the Morgan Dollar overstrike (mintage 21) and the 40% Silver IKE overstrike (mintage 11) I would let go of. shoot me a PM.
NGC also did a number of Sample Slabs for the Sarasota Coin Club . There was singles in brass (Goldine), silver and copper and a three piece slab . Very small edition of I think 40 pieces each in the slabs .
Do you know anyone who has a set they would like to part with ?
Check out the one that Dan did a few years back in remembrance of Gary Burke . It's a gorgeous piece with Gary's portrait in the clouds and below is a giant sea turtle.
Quite a tribute !!
Yeah. That's a cool one. Who doesn't want a delivery turtle! Drones smones!
There was one on eBay recently. Might still be there (not mine)
Here is what the three piece set looks like as I had it here at the house .
The singles actually say SAMPLE on them . I'm not sure if I kept any of them after securing the three piece set, but if I do I'll let you know .
I want that!
I might be interested in the ike
The IKE and Morgan over strikes have been sold!
Darn it. I wanted that ike!
I thought the 40% Silver Matte was 5 pcs and the Matte Clad was 13 pcs?

Man you are well connected to have the pieces you mentioned that you own
Can someone show the IKE in question?
Read the thread Grandam.. it's a 40% Ike that was over struck with the Club medal design
Here is the IKE....
I love bears on coins.
Me too and I am still looking for a silver example !
Just back from the factory.......
