Silver Eagle Error?
I posted this thread on the Q&A Forum and didn't really get an answer...

Looking to see if the error shown is actually a mint error or some sort of mint packing/handling error. Nobody seems to know.

It is a "relic" of the strike due to weakness. It is not rare.

looks like it could be a 'struck thru'
grease error; I've seen this effect
before on ASE's-
It doesn't look like contact from another
coin, although that's a possibility too.
Can you shoot it again and post more photos?
It appears to be indented rather than raised... Is that correct? Cheers, RickO
They do put some kind of oil on the edges of the planchets before striking.
