The lower CBH is an easy winner for me ... based on the images. I prefer its eye appeal.

Honestly, neither of them. Those neon colors just don't do it for me.

If asked which one I wanted the coin fairy to leave under my pillow--the bottom one.

Just because I'm old doesn't mean I don't love to look at a pretty bust.

Without seeing in hand, I would go for the lower one, HST, both are spectacular and very close.

I like the first one. The color contrast between devices & fields is better. Both photos look juiced to me.

I like #2 more but both are lovely. I too suspect the colors are over saturated.

That's a real rough choice. Because of the way it's toned, the top coin looks to be better struck, and it is, but only slightly (see the area at the bust line, otherwise they are pretty equal). I guess I'd like the top one better because the device really "pops" the way it's toned, but would take that bottom one in a heartbeat!

I have the same problem that I suspect you might. I liker certain aspects of both coins, but if I had to pick I think I could get confused and keep them both.

Both beautiful coins and while the top has a lot more luster showing around devices the bullet toning on the lower is outstanding

    Thanks for your opinions everyone.

I'm contemplating selling one but as you probably guessed having a hard time choosing, and so I may just hang on to both, but still haven't decided for sure.

    Coin #1. 55% to 45%.

I first took it as an exercise in which coin is more likely to be on primary toning alone. Coin #2 seems to be what you usually see today, and uniformly loved by most collectors. But, it also has more of a secondary toning look to me via more recent album toning. Compare the brightness of the areas around the eagle's feathers and in the recesses of the word "LIBERTY." One looks a lot older.

Only negative on coin #1 is that the wear is more obvious with the color scheme. Coin #2 hides the rubbing better as it blends into the toning. That might be related to when the toning occurred.

I like both coins, but I think both pictures highlight the toning more than is likely really true. Coin #2 toning is better.

As far as the pictures go, I prefer the bottom. In hand, I suspect the top one might be the more "interesting" of the two.

I agree: Roadrunner articulated what was swimming around in my thoughts as I looked at them. Would of course like to see in hand to make a true judgment.

    #2

The tail feather definition on the reverse catches my eye. The #1 obverse looks very nice..the toning does wonders for Ms. Liberty.
