The item # at JMB was scasez01var and it is no longer available on the site ???

Well they still have them. Looks like $2.69 over for less than 5 rolls. That's a hefty price for culls since you can often find deals for new unopened rolls for less than that. I suppose it's also possible that whoever picked your order pulled stock from the wrong bin if you didn't specifically order the cull stuff.

If this is what the OP ordered scasez01: American Silver Eagle Coin (Varied Year, Cull/Damaged) he got exactly what he paid for. BTW APMEX sells their culls for $2.50 above spot.

It pays to keep an eye out for deals from the major bullion dealers. And they all have occasionally.

I think that BU takes on a slightly different connotation for ASEs than it used to for circulating coinage. Once an ASE is taken from the original tube, you could almost say that it's in circulation. I'd venture to guess that most culls are just coins that were bought as singletons, gifts, or for collections and were then later recycled into mixed tubes. .999 silver is softer than 90% silver, so it's likely to show signs of circulation quicker.

I'm picky when it comes to ASEs. I've seen how it goes when trying to sell them when they have more than a few scuffs. After three or four scuffs they become "seconds" and are priced accordingly.
If I can't buy them MS67 or better I just pass and buy junk silver or bars.

I would buy all the reject ASEs at spot but I would never pay a premium for umblemished.

As someone said earlier, silver is silver. Paying premium is just paying someones marketing and profits.

Try putting a WTB ad up here and on the BST and let us know how many responses you get. If JMBullion can get $2.69 over for em, you might be able to also.

I don't expect to buy any, just stating that's where I'll buy. Some people like to pay premiums, some dont. I think at some point everything trades at a discount. Patients are a virtue. ;)

The post was TIC! Smoe people are willing to pay premiums, but that doesn't mean that they like it. Of course in the secondary market one can always offer to buy them at whatever price one wants to offer and business is routinely done under those conditions. One dealer around here was offering $1.50 over for ASEs which is cheaper than he could get the for from an AP. If one can make a profit selling at $1.50 over then it's all good.

Care to elaborate about what you ordered vs what was sent?

I ordered 20 Uncirculated, various date ASE's and received 20 various date ASE's that were 'damaged' in various ways,
Contacted them and they exchanged them for 20 2012 very nice ASE's.

I usually order BU ASE's not UNC ASE's..not sure if that was the problem.

If they were damaged to the extent that you say, it's hard to imagine them as being uncirculated. They don't just pick up damage for no reason. As mentioned earlier, JMBullion does sell coins that are less than optimum but the coins are described as such.

    All's swell that ends swell.

I'll let this thread go and I wish I had pics of the original delivered ASE's but I do not.
I will say that JMB replaced them with nice ones.
Thanks everyone for your insight, input, advice and experience.

Great...glad to hear they replaced them and, more important, you are happy with the replacements. Cheers, RickO

This thread should be in the us coin forum not precious metals...

Hmmm....maybe not...if he bought them as bullion, based on PM value+premium over spot, versus numismatic premium or as a coin ;)

I think it works in the PM forum. Much better than it would in the USCF actually.

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
