Home U.S. Coin Forum

coin finds from the cash register at your local gas station etc.

I have never gotten much back in change a silver quarter from time to time. I stopped a few days ago at the place I get a cup of coffee c and newspaper every day. I usually pay with correct change every morning ($2.15 for both, not a Starbucks) but used a $20 dollar bill and got this in change. Right off the bat I noticed it but could not decide wether to make a few more purchases to see what else might be in the register or leave and be content. I did just leave by the way happy with my change. Not a coin but.... How often does this happen anymore, silver coins, silver certificates etc. What have you gotten lately.

I hope the picture shows up. This new forum seems a ton easier to navigate. I never figured out how to post pics thru photo bucket or whatever it was called

That is cool! It has a couple obvious folds in or near the center, but the paper still looks rather crisp.

    That's a cool pickup.
I received a crisp hundred dollar bill a few years back from a bank teller. 1917 if I recall correctly.

Just googled it. Must have been in the 30's. I'm not a currency guy. :)

    Cool.

My best for currency was two error $1 notes. Nearly crisp, but had a fold or two. I learned they werte what is called a third print shift error, with the serial numbers displaced to the right. I sold for about $50 each.

My change finds for 2016 consisted of one 1964-D silver dime and one 1944-D silver nickel. I have never received a brown seal note in change, but then, those notes have effectively been out of circulation since the 1930s!

It has been folded 4 times. It very well may be stolen from grandpa who knows. Unemployment is sky high around here with plenty of meth heads.

I thought the value was over a 100 bucks at first but this one is around 60 dollars

Well I revisited the picture on the computer....Bigger picture than the phone.
Looks like a 1929 series Chicago.
I was initially thinking 1935 Hawaii.
