1999 D Penny Error

Here's my recent find. The errors are in the word "Liberty" and in the year "1999". The last "9" seems larger than the first two. The rim on the Liberty side seems to have issues too.

I believe it to be a mint error. Grease filled die. It's a minor error and with that coin in that condition it is just a fun piece to talk about......no extra value.

Cannot guess why that one 9 looks larger other than a miraculous set of coincidences that left a distorted discolored area in the shape of a 9 there

It is a minor error of a filled die.

The curved lines on the left are from a fingerprint

The black is a form of corrosion. Attempts at removal will only further damage it.

In great condition, the error adds no value. This one isn't in great condition.

Keep it as a curiosity piece and a interesting first find.

Grease filled die.... no extra value, but a good educational piece. Cheers, RickO
