Do you have key dates memorized for most series?

When you are out coin hunting and look through a series somewhere, do you know what you're looking for?
I only have a handful memorized, but the more educated you make yourself the better scores you'll make.

LOL! I learned all those when I was a 12 year old walking redbook!
Some, but not all, especially the pre-Barber series.
BST transactions: dbldie55, jayPem, 78saen, UltraHighRelief, nibanny, liefgold, FallGuy, lkeigwin, mbogoman, Sandman70gt, keets, joeykoins, ianrussell (@GC), EagleEye, ThePennyLady, GRANDAM, Ilikecolor, Gluggo, okiedude, Voyageur, LJenkins11, fastfreddie, ms70, pursuitofliberty, ZoidMeister,Coin Finder, GotTheBug, edwardjulio, Coinnmore, Nickpatton, Namvet69,...
In liberty gold, absolutely, and semi keys, and which issues should look a particular way, and which issues had weak strikes, mint marks, etc. In other series, maybe just the keys.

1933 . Are there others?
yes and no

I know them all , with the excpetion of some older gold issues I have to use a quick reference check for
Morgans and Lincoln cents. But likely most know those.

In a brief answer..............................NO
Successful transactions with : MICHAELDIXON, Manorcourtman, Bochiman, bolivarshagnasty, AUandAG, onlyroosies, chumley, Weiss, jdimmick, BAJJERFAN, gene1978, TJM965, Smittys, GRANDAM, JTHawaii, mainejoe, softparade, derryb, Ricko
Bad transactions with : nobody to date
I know all the seated, barber, and most of the post 1877 gold coins....but I can't keep up on currently pricing. So those things I have to look up to be sure. I'd rather run across a "key" date that is not yet fully recognized or priced as one. What's the thrill in running across a 1909-s VDB cent when everyone knows what it is, and what it's worth?
For the series I specialize in, yes. And since those are the only coins I bother to look at...
No.... I do know some... and if I become interested in a particular area, I quickly familiarize myself with the necessary information....Used to have a lot more in my head when I was going to coin shows almost monthly....now..not so much. Cheers, RickO
i know a few but not all. it could always use some work.

In one series, yes. For everything else, of course not, but I'm almost never in a situation where I need to make a buy/sell decision without at least a little time to contemplate. If coins were my business, I'd know it inside and out.
I wish I did, but I lack the motivation to do so. Clearly, like so many others have stated, I have a few of the dates rattling around in my head, especially for those series I'm most interested in collecting. However, as stated by BryceM, it would be fairly unlikely that I would find myself in a situation where I needed that depth information for most other series, at least not on the spot.

I know most of them and have for many years.
The key (pun intended) is to use that information to your advantage.
And in many cases, it's much easier to make a bigger percentage profit on semi-key dates or even on plain old generic common date stuff.
No.

Let's see, I'll start with cents: I know for Lincoln cents you've got your 1896, your 1982 all copper, your 1996 (only if at least ANACS MS64 FULL RED baby!!!), and of course those beautiful crispy 2016's. Dying to get my hands one of those 2017's. Really only collect Lincolns to be honest.

That's so cool! I'm nominating you for numismatist of the year! Please dm me to teach me more about the hobby!
