No need to add me to the give away but it is cool you are doing it. To help bump the thread with one I acquired a couple of years ago at flea market for $2.....
Looking for Top Pop Mercury Dime Varieties & High Grade Mercury Dime Toners.
I recall those being heavily promoted. I never found them to be very interesting though I do remember some club members of that period who were very into the minor Lincoln cent varieties. A few of those folks thought they could make money on them though I don't know if they ever did. I haven't heard them mentioned in many, many years.
And I learned something new here today! Thanks!

Cool, I think they're kind of interesting, even though they were milked to death in the 60s and 70s.
FWIW, I found a very strong 1998 BIE in a roll and "modern" BIEs are really scarce.
I sold it for a NICE profit.
Wow I remember seeing 55s BIE for the first time a few years ago. It was in the same box as a 55s with cud in the 5. That was pretty cool to see at my first show.
Cool drawing. Count me in for fun
I remember those Sounds like fun.
Thanks for the fun.
I have not seen one of those in years. Thanks for the memory.
Very cool. Thanks for the chance.
I remember chasing those well.....
I would have thought it was in the sixties.....
Very cool! Never seen one of those before.
I hadn't heard about these until about 10 years ago. My uncle showed me some.
They are an interesting little thing all right.
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
I have never found one in searching thousands. Would be cool to have a few for the album. Thanks.
Now that's something neat that I wouldn't normally search for. Now's my chance. Thanks
I'd like to bie entered!
I like little things like these. Thanks for the chance.
Those are interesting...never found one.... Thanks for the chance... Cheers, RickO
Thanks for the opportunity.

When the area of the die between the B and E cracked off and created the "BIE", do you suppose anyone involved in the minting process could have ever imagined we would be talking about it 60 years later using the internet.?

Wow, very educational post. I did not know much about the "BIE" cents, just that there was one. Did not know there were many over a period of years. Same failure of the die causing this? Thanks for the giveaway, enter me please.

I am not an expert on this subject, someone else chime in please, but I believe from what I have read was that the die area between "B & E" was weak and cracked often.

At one time I had over 100 different BIE's per a book I had on the topic.
If I am a winner then pass them to a YN or a specialist. Good memories
searching through wheatie rolls.
A good BIE was to DIE for. I would HIE my way to the bank to search rolls, but all I ever got was humble PIE. I thought these were going to LIE low for ever, or at least be in a TIE with all the 2009 Lincoln minor varieties.
Nice flashback! I'll bet if a 'BIE' die break was discovered on a Capped Bust half, it would go thru the roof!

They were even more popular in the '60's.
......and there were other die chip combinations
in LIBERTY, the Date, Mintmarks, etc.......
They were easily found in change in the 60's,
and a woman, Jean Cohen, even produced a
large, hard-copy 600 page (yes, 600 pages) Book
entitled "The Classification and Value of Errors
on the Lincoln Cent - The Encyclopedia of Fidology"
It had over 6,000 line-drawing pictures of the Lincoln
Cent, with BIE's, Cracked Skulls, Clogged and Blob
Letters and Numbers, other die cracks, etc.
It was published in 1970, and I have a signed copy
by her, # 356, that I've had since 1970 (when I was 20 yrs. old!)
I used to sell these types of die errors thru the mail,
for ten cents to a buck, around 1964, 65.
i'm in
coin and banknote dealer since 2003
I remember them and sold many to the kids around my neighborhood who I started in coin collecting.
Cool!

Very cool and interesting cents
I love BIEs! See a bunch of BIE photos I've taken in high resolution, some with 3D perspective rendering, and a few animations at my website:

Couple of weeks ago I opened a Bu roll of 54-S cents and found 7-8.
I do remember that they were popular but when I looked up current prices was disappointed.
They do look neat.

Agreed
Enter me for chance to win.
Hoping to keep my non winning streak alive with this entry.
I had never heard of this variety, very cool of you to give some away.
I remember it. We found,(me and my dad) found quite few while while searching rolls , mostly dated 1957 and 1956.
Do you remember the satellite 1960 Jefferson nickels?
Nice blast from the past.
never heard of these before...thanks for the new knowledge.
I am in! I wasn't actively collecting back then, but have a Lincoln Dansco set going, and when I win I will put it in a flip and tape it to the inside of the album; just thinking positively is all. Thanks for the opportunity.
Be nice to win one!
Please count me in.
Thank you!
Neat coins. Exciting to find in circulation 50 years ago.
Thanks for the education. Interesting how what is old can be new.
Has anyone estimated how many of these are out there?
Lonesome John used to sell small replica Mint-sealed bags of various minor errors, maybe 100 Lincolns, for a small fee in the early 70's. (Fred, break out one of his old catalogues) Inside you would find many BIE's and all the other variants that occurred on 'Liberty'.
Here is the ongoing catalogue of Lincoln BIE cents run by BJ Neff & JC Stevens...
