New Hampshire coin show report

ScarsdaleCoinScarsdaleCoin Posts: 5,223 ✭✭✭✭✭

Had the opportunity to grab a table this past weekend at a nice regional show Manchester New Hampshire.
First I have to say that this show is well run in a very nice convention hall which is attached to the Raddison hotel right in downtown. So for dealers and collectors it's pretty ez
Security was solid and several clubs set up with some really nice exhibits as well. Hope people spent some time taking a look as it certainly was worth looking at

In addition there was a well attended banquet celebrating 75 years Nema with Q Bowers featured. A nice bonus to say the least

Personally I felt that the bullion roller coaster going down put a bit of a damper for some dealers but there was activity with a good group of collectors both Friday and Saturday at the show

Always
interesting what turns up for example one dealer had an unique frame of expo medals

All in all if you are in the Mass Vt or New Hampshire area you should try to pop in

Always enjoy reading all the show reports. Even those a little far to travel from Texas. :)

Thanks for taking the time to post.

I was there until 3:00 Friday. Great show. Only came away with one coin (1807/6 Large Cent in PCGS XF-45). I felt I had spent enough the week before with Heritage and Great Collections. Looking forward to FUN next.

A good show and location, but numismatics are slow even for the bigger shows; too many shows considering that. One of the few major multiday shows for northern New England.

I attended for about two hours the first day and had enough time to scour the floor seeking what I was really looking for. I had to be quick as I had to work in the afternoon. However, the second day of the show I spent close to four hours. It was nice to still check in with some favorite dealers, but also take the time to soak up everything.

    Chance favors the prepared mind.

NEMA? Or was this the annual NENA show (New England Numis Assoc)? Was always well attended in past decades when held in greater Boston or eastern/central Mass. I've attended quite a few those, but never the ones that required a 3-4 drive up to NH, VT, or Maine. Sounds like it was a worthwhile show for those that could make it.

The NENA "conferences" used to be a lot of fun. They called them "conferences" and not "conventions" because some of the members were opposed to commercialism.

I used to enter exhibits there. They had a very good YN program which featured a youth auction. The "money" the participants used even became collectors' items was images of NENA founders and prominent members on the bills.

In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

I went yesterday (Sunday). I didn't see much, it was a Friday and Saturday show. At least at my age, you're not so embarrassed when you do stupid mistakes. Saved loads of money (silver lining in the cloud) though.
I've been to many of Ernie's shows and they are great. Thanks for your report, it keeps us New Englanders in touch.
