A Numismatic Box Of 20

boiler78boiler78 Posts: 3,060 ✭✭✭✭✭

Over the years I have worked on several set that are difficult to complete. We have all been there........ the more success we have building a set the harder it gets to complete. Many of us start another set or subset in order to "scratch the itch"

I have always loved the artistic quality of large size U.S. currency. The beauty of the designs and the intricacy of the engraving makes them seem like miniature masterpieces. After PCGS and PMG started their grading services I started cautiously collecting. I nitpicked every note and asked a lot of questions along the way. I am no currency expert but I have learned enough along the way to be comfortable buying in that market.

Coins will always be my first love but adding currency has really made collecting more enjoyable for me. Here is my Numismatic Box Of 20

    What a fabulous idea!
I love every piece. It is also very cool that the "box" is split evenly between coins and paper - 10 &10.

I've really enjoyed being your friend over the years. You have taught me so much as well. Love that box of 20. The lazy deuce, educational and gold note are so very very sweet. Just amazing.

What a great collection of classic designs. I especially like the two-for-one: that's the Morgan dollars on the back of the 1886 $5 silver certificate.

    Super-duper!

I have never been one for currency/paper but the examples that you have provided here are beautiful.

I've always liked your coins......all classic, iconic, key dates.

I particularly like your 1916-D Mercury dime and your 1796 Draped Bust Quarter. Both are stunning examples in grades that I like and the OGHs and the green beans only add to the allure and desirability imho.

    Very well done....

Where's the "love" button - "like" just doesn't do it justice!

Absolutely great stuff and a great way of presenting it. :+1:

    Words fail me.

But here is a suggestion: Since you have currency, why not fold the currency so the bills occupy less space? After all, that way you can cram more items into your Box of Twenty and might even wind up with a Box of Thirty. :)

Really great material as usual, Boiler. :p The only piece I can match is the Pan-Pac $50 in MS-64, CAC. I have a HIgh Relief $20 gold in MS-65, but it's NGC graded and hasn't been to see the CAC people.

The paper money is beyond of my collecting expertise. I appreciate it, but have never gone very far with currency except for a Fractional Currency type set and some Confederate notes. None of my stuff is as nice as yours.

In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?
