Amazing! Would be great to have a Proof / Proof-Like version as well!

The photo is about as proof-like as these will be. Over-striking a proof finish, while simultaneously changing the design significantly, usually results in a lot of host coin artifacts that remain visible.

I did receive at last my three "Danny" coins: 1933 gold $5, 1945 Peace dollar, and silver 1979 Ike.
Commentary: I too found the half eagle to be quite coppery in presentation, the Peace dollar BEAUTIFUL, and was wishing for an "S" mintmark on the Ike (as a native Californian would!).
This makes me wonder if gold blanks were originally pickled by the US Mint to leach out surface copper and give a more golden appearance to the struck coins???

I think yes, the US Mint leached copper off of the surface of gold planchets.
I might experiment with doing that next time.

If I may: immersing blanks in acid solution, oftentimes called “pickling” leaches or dissolves off the lesser metal which would be copper leaving a higher percentage of the gold in the alloy at the surface of the blank.
The resulting coin struck would then have a surface more golden in color.
This was also done to lesser percentage silver alloy coins to keep the appearance of better quality silver - like when the Royal Mint in 1920 decreased silver content from 92.5% to 50%. Newly struck coins appeared to be of the better metal.
In addendum, and a bit unrelated - I have often wondered how the Mexico pesos of c. 1957-67 vintage that are only 10% silver alloy content can appear so "silvery" on surface. I don't think they are "sandwich" coins of higher percentage on outside layers and less to inner Ala the 1965-70 Kennedy halves but rather blanched as above.
Back to the gold portion: I have put worn US $2.5 Indians in mild acid and has improved the surface to some extent but would be reluctant to put my recently acquired 1933 Carr $5 to such....

The 1958-D Lincoln/Wheat cent has a special meaning in my case:
It is the last year for the Wheat reverse (the only truly Art Deco design the US Mint has produced, in my opinion);
1958 is also my birth year;
"D" (Denver) is my birth place;
The person depicted on the coin (Abraham Lincoln) is my cousin (we are both descended from Penelope Stout).

There is the controversial 1959-D Wheat cent out there. I mention it in my product description for the "1958-D" Memorial:
"The first year that the Lincoln Memorial reverse was used for the Lincoln cent was 1959 (on the occasion of the sesquicentennial of Lincoln’s birth in 1809). There exists a single known (and very controversial) “1959-D” Lincoln cent with the Wheat reverse. Experts disagree on whether or not it is a genuine issue. The realized price for this controversial piece in auction indicates that it is generally believed to be a privately-made “fantasy”, although that realized price was still considerable. The “1958-D” with Memorial reverse is the reciprocal “fantasy” issue to the “1959-D” Wheat reverse. Struck over 1959-D Lincoln/Memorial Cents. "
@7Jaguars said:
But Dan does the US mint acknowledge the coin? Like Clacker says: sign me up and "take my money"!
.
You mean that "1959-D" Wheat Cent ?
I think at one time that item was sent to the US Mint and/or Secret Service and they indicated that it was genuine.
But I think all they really did was check the dimensions, weight, and composition. Since it was likely struck on a US Mint bronze cent planchet, it would pass those tests. The real question is the origin of the dies that struck it. It looks like replica dies to me, but I could also see how someone would conclude that it was struck from genuine dies.
Yes, I believe that was the coin.My recollection is that mint personnel never did offer opinion and that it was the Secret Service, technically a branch of the US Department of the Treasury that had examined the coin. My point was that I had thought as long as there did not officially exist such a coin that it might be fair game to be struck by you or others???
