Your link does not work..... I assume you are questioning price? Cheers, RickO

Usually a sweet coin in a PC 66 BN. They just don't put trash into that grade category. Prob les than 10 graded at PC with out checking. Probably look great in your set, I'd say get it if the cert number is legit and you can live with the price.

You need to remove the extra https:// from your link and then it will work.

The software people need to remove whatever keeps making that happen.

Granted, I always check my links after I post any, but I shouldn't have to.

That happens to me quite often with this very user-unfriendly new platform.

I don't like the colors. Questionable.

    Two things.

I fixed the link. Sorry about that

For the record i am not considering it for my collection as I already have a redics coin in the slot but I wanted to hear what people thought about the color and surfaces

I don't have a problem with the color or surfaces.

It looks like a nice 100+ year old coin to me.

With that said, I don't like it as a 66. The hit on the N is distracting to me and it

doesn't have the flash I would want at that level. (Maybe the pics)

oop... the hit on the N.

    nope

Is anyone else bothered by the darkened high points, the cheek chin tie thing? Friction, rub or skin oil, doesn't necessarily mean it's AU but I'm not used to seeing this on a top pop coin

You're not alone. Frankly, I'm not a fan of this coin. (Not in the market anyway, so it really doesn't matter what I think!)

The hit on the N on the reverse and the dark coloring on the high points of Lincoln the obverse would put me out of the market for this coin, if I was in the market to begin with. The color looks fine to me and is a partial woodie.

The dark points were most likely (in my guess) caused by a rough rub by cloth or thumb. It does bother me because its the first negative thing I noticed about the coin. I don't think it is anywhere near an AU coin. I could live with the color but I now try to avoid the woody look because the negative affect it seems to have on resale value. Lastly I'm not bothered by the hit on the N. I would expect a much nicer coin in a 66 slab.

Retracted my comment about the tie area after seeing true views. Wondering why the auction didn't use the true views.

I would prefer BG's coin to this one. Looks like the market is determining the value to be more like a 65.

I think the pic is huge.

The lighting doesn't do it any favors.

    Yea, that would bother me.

I'm just not crazy about the woodgrain effect, never have been, and the other colors are funky to me. A nice glossy solid brown with no marks would be what I would want in this grade.

Glad it's not my coin, in the current auction, being raked over the coals.

    Trueview.

    Sparky64,
The truview looks better and does de-accentuate the higher point discoloration.

I don't normally discuss coins up in current auctions but oddly if I were to be praising its merits there would be just as many people who would want me to shut my trap for fear is push the price UP

Are the auctions allowed to use true views when they sell? I'm thinking the true views look much friendlier. I see true views on eBay quite often so just wondering if its acceptable to use them on other auction sites.

If you are going to drop for you what is serious money for ANY coin, it better be all there for the grade, and make sense to buy in the current market.

My guess is that it started its life as an MS-64 BN at some point.

It's feels good to come home from work and see folks praising a coin you own. That photo is better than any I have taken of it. Robec I think?

In regards to the OPs discussion coin, I guess I could see a 66 sold for 65 money +-. I'm sort of pleased that a gem 09 svdb is still gonna cost 3-4k. I wouldn't act like it takes a lot of difference in what makes these a 6 over a 5. One could literally transpose the grades on most 65 and 66 Lincolns in BN (maybe means more in RD) and they would basically be the same type of coins, IMO. Virtually no 67s, so making 66 the cap in BN. Owning a 66 is cool because there are just so few. Like the value added to a 58+? Is it all plastic value?

Show me a coin you can't find a problem with on a computer monitor or tablet. Twisting this coin in front of you under a grading light isn't something any of us can do and we're left to trusting PCGS and or a rep. This coin has character and that's what collecting BN Lincoln's is all about.

I'm still inclined to think this is a nice coin I hand. I could be out of date some, I built my early date set in 65-66 BN ten years ago already. I'm just going from my experience. More will obviously be made and upgraded.
