    In all my years of being around coins, this was the first I had ever heard about a 1964 Morgan dollar.

    In his Guide Book of Peace Dollars, Roger W. Burdette discusses how the Morgan dollar was considered (however briefly) by the Treasury Department as a possibility for the 1964 coinage. Ultimately the Morgan design was abandoned --- and we all know its sister, the Peace dollar, stole the spotlight after its Denver mintage became reality.
