Old scam. Has been around for at least 10 years. Never respond to eBay or PayPal messages that do not have your first and last name in the header and that are not current selling related..i/e item sold or payment received. Only respond to messages in your eBay message center.

Yes, an old scam, however, it is always good to mention it again when it surfaces... there are those that have not yet been exposed to it. Cheers, RickO

Hover, do not click over the email address.

For example, Ebay will show ebay@ebay.com

    Outback steakhouse shows email@email.outback.com

When is says, for example, paypal and you hover, and it has RDC@gmail.net

    It is no good.

Be careful of similar lines, like ebay@ebaymailnotices.com or paypal@paipal.com or things like that.

If is not fool proof, but starts you in the right direction.

What email address did your paypal spams have?

Some of the scam emails I have received supposedly from paypal are actually to the point of being hilarious,
Misspellings and improper use of the English language are a dead give a way.
Verbiage such as “Your paypal account has been limited .... “ are a dead give away.
Then they want you to verify all of your eBay info to include your credit and debit card numbers.
Are there people walking the planet dumb enough to fall for this?
    Guess so
or they would not keep making the rounds.

Got a silly email that my bank account was compromised and now I am LOCKED out.

It looked all official until I dug around finding the true email address through sleuthing.

    And that address is :

    o_ohio-state.edu@sofortstart.de

So if you know who that is , send them a love note. image
