Thoughts on this liberty nickel

I don't collect this series so I wouldn't mind an opinion or two from someone that knows this series. Think it's nice enough to get MS65? I included 3 obverse shots just to be safe. Any thoughts and/or opinions would be appreciated, thanks.

Looks like it needs to spend some time in an acetone bath, but other than that I don't see why not.
MS66 taste on an MS63 budget.

Obverse rim damage at 7 o'clock would worry me.

I've seen 63's with less hits. I would grade it 61-62.

Couple of light cheek marks, one album slide mark on the rim, and a light fingermark. Strike is nearly full, with most stars showing centers, and the coin has strong luster. MS64.

I think that he's tough too. I would grade it MS-63+.

Very solid 64. I've seen no better in MS65 holders. Good luster and strike. Any distractions seem minor to me.

The strike is real good, but just too much chatter on the face and neck for me.

I'm in the 64 camp as well, though I could imagine that having a shot at 65. Worth a try, I suppose. Sharp coin.

FWIW, I don't think that would hold it back from grading, but it might limit the chances of it going 65. On a bad day, might even pull it down below 64, but only on a bad day.

I still think it's worth a shot, especially if you're in it for 63 money or less.

I just received a '12 62 and 63 back from grading; I think they look about the same as your coin. That said, it looks like a 63 to me.

Send it in. Id be in the 64-65 range depending on in hand luster.

I like it a lot- it looks a lot like an '06 I had in 64. It should also be worthy of an FC (Full Corn) designation (if there was such a thing)!

Thanks for all the opinions on this one. It's funny because all those dark marks on the neck aren't actually dark in hand - they blend in quite nicely with the silver color of the coin. I'm not sure why they showed up as dark marks in the pictures, because it's simply not the case in hand.

The light fingerprint on the obverse is what worries me. I captured it well in the pictures (it's the reason why I provided 3 pictures of the obverse). You can only see the very bottom of it when viewing the coin straight-on, but more of it shows up when you tilt the coin. Also, the coin has great luster in hand, but I had difficulty capturing it, especially when shooting the obverse.

I thought it looked better than almost all the 1904 nickels graded 64 that sold on Heritage, but there were alot of 65s that looked better than mine. There's a large spread between 64 and 65 pricing for this date so I'm debating if it's even worth it to send it in for grading.

So hard to find kernels on that left ear!

    I like it as a '64 . . . If it's shiny.

Wish I could find a 1900 with full corn.

Hey Dimeman, how about this: if it gets 62 or lower, I'll send you the coin and you can keep it, but if it gets 64 or higher, you owe me the PCGS regular grading fee? image

From the pictures, I would say 63/64....in hand...well, could be a different story. Cheers, RickO

They can be all over the place. I would never bet on a grade. That is just what it looked like to me. Too much chatter on cheek and neck for 64 or higher for me. It could 63. If I saw that coin in a 65 holder I would pass in a heartbeat.

Nothing personal.....I'm just not crazy about the coin.

    I'd call it a 64, shot at 64+
