Hot shipping by Heritage

I won a 1785 H10c on the 12th and I haven't mailed a check yet.

But I get an email from them saying:

Status:
Your item departed our USPS facility in NORTH TEXAS PROCESSING AND DISTRIBUTION CENTER on June 15, 2016 at 10:14 pm. The item is currently in transit to the destination

It's a $6800 coin so I'm surprised they shipped it before they got paid.

I've been a customer for years but I don't buy that much from them.
I wouldn't send me a $6800 coin before I got paid for it.

Maybe somebody else paid it for me. image

I have heard other say recently that they have been shipping before payment was made. They must have hired interns or something in the shipping department image

Wow... that is unusual... although I have had it happen from people I have dealt with frequently.

Happens to me quite a bit, but not that amount of a purchase (less than $1K) through Heritage. I may have built up a trustworthiness rating with them. I normally settle-up right away, but this last round (a little over $800) was sent out the same day I made payment.

You must be on the "good list" with the Heritage folks!

I actually was going to delay my payment to Heritage on my last win because I was going to be out of town for a few days and didn't want the coin showing up when I wasn't there.

But because I'm such a 'good customer' they shipped the coin right away without me paying first!

So I had to get someone to go to my house to get that expensive coin out of my mailbox!

they do the exact opposite to me. the last two times i paid for coins they did not ship until weeks after payments were cleared. i am a legacy customer too. before they have me legacy status...i used to get them right away.

Yes, I'd like to know more about this '1785' half dime. It just may be worth much more than $6800.

It's unusual. I've experienced the opposite with HA lately - not shipping for 6 days after the auction.

    Oops.

I had to wait a decade and bought the 1795 version instead.image

Heritage shipping was a little too hot for me this time.

They shipped earlier lots that I won so quickly prior to invoicing and payment that they are now going to have to send me a second shipment with the later lots.

As a Legacy Customer I'm used to coins shipping out right away before I even pay for them, but I would prefer they at least wait until the end of the auction so all lots can be shipped together. I don't want to pay shipping twice.

    Regarding the OP's 1795 H10c, nice Scarface!

The did the same to me, that's why I cut down buying on HA now. Treat me well buy more not well buy less.

Heritage just sent a $2,500 + item to me before they had even emailed an invoice to me. I guess you are not alone.

That's a big improvement over another auction house that had my cleared check and still had not shipped the goods more than a week and a half later.

HA has treated me very nicely these past few years. Some of the other nameless auction houses - different story.

I have always received fast shipping from HA sometimes before I pay. I won a presidential autograph earlier this month and I saw they had mailed it out on thrusday afternoon, as I was leaving my driveway Friday I noticed some " trash" in my pasture. Upon another look realized it was a package partly in standing water. USPS pitched it over the gate. No damaged due to the excellent packaging they sent it in.

Same here - with Heritage, I always get the item before I have to pay for it.

With the "other major firm", it's usually two weeks after my check clears.

may the fonz be with you...always...

For me, just the opposite. I paid immediately and have yet to receive any notification about shipment.
I mean it's only been a few days I guess, but I thought Id throw it out there.
