The Greater Chicago Coin and Currency Show...

Hi guy's, The Tinley Park show, In Tinley Park IL. From June 16-19, Anyone going? I'll be there on Friday. I love taking the day off for a Coin Show. Whether, it's nearby or quite a distance. In this case, for me, it's only about 12 miles from my home. Other Shows, I'll travel maybe 30-40 miles. I got to hand it to the ones that are willing to go 100 miles or farther, to a Show. Preparing for your agenda what you attend to accomplish is also fun. and if it doesn't turn out the way you plan, it's all still good. To be around coin geeks as myself is an enjoyment in itself! I have a Proof 1953 Quarter, NGC 68 Cameo that I'll try to flip for a little profit? Maybe, pick something else that catches the coin eye. I know many patrons will be hunting for the highly published 1970 Proof Quarter struck over the Canadian coin. but than again, maybe not, for my sake and the ones that are seeking. See 'ya guy's.-joeyimage

I hope you have a great time at the show. It's a little too far for me to attend.

I am always entertained by other peoples ideas of how far is too far to travel.

You say you are willing to travel 30-40 miles for a show.

I travel that far to work each day !

Yeah, same here. So your saying that's nothing (30-40 miles)? I guess your right. Just think, some people even travel 500-3000 miles away. Say from California to New York! I know these people aren't going to sell one coin or two. Were talking BIG money to be made whether buying or selling? To travel that far.image

  • I'll be traveling there (4 hr drive) with a 38 week pregnant wife at home!

Come to think of it, maybe that's why I'm going...?

Any info on the dealers who are in attendance? How many typically set-up?
  • joeykoinsjoeykoins Posts: 17,469 ✭✭✭✭✭
Dealers? Maybe, one I personally know, Bill Burd. From Chicago Coin. In the past, quite a few of the well knowns has attended the Convention. I think there will be about 200 Tables? Best part, Free Parking and Free admission. Just walking in one makes a profit!
Just one more thing... I suggest any out-of-towners to attend this Show, along with the great city of Chicago. Esp. this weekend. Why not? The weather is forecasted to be fantastic! In the low 80's and sunny throughout. Also, it's the Father's Day weekend. What a great 3-day vacation to go to a nice show and celebrate Dad's Day in my beautiful City. Just to mention, Tinley Park, IL. is also awesome. That's where my wife and I shop. Ton's of places to eat and shop! Come on out guy's. You'll love the experience. and no, I don't work for the Chicago/Tinley Park Commerce to promote the two Cities. LOL -joey
