Just for old times...... Please grade the 84cc Morgan

stmanstman Posts: 11,352 ✭✭✭✭✭
Some may know the grade. I don't believe I've posted a (cough) Morgan in years. Have at it. It's always amazing how folks "evolve" on how easy, or tough they are on grading from images.

Thanks for the comments. I don't give my coins a bump for ownership. I'm very tough on them. This coin is PCGS MS-65+/John. Like TomB said it has a very nice glow and eye-appeal IMO. I'd say it's an easy 66 but if it was then I probably wouldn't have bought it when I did.

The reverse looks frosty as all get-out and the obverse looks to have a healthy glow, too. It looks pretty dang cool.

Strike seems just a tad weak for a 67 so I'll say 66. It does have the eye appeal of a 67 though

Very nice coin. The image shows little lustre so I'm in the 65 camp.

Grading this picture from my chair: I like the original surfaces - MS66 for me please. For some reason, I thinking in hand and a little better lighting it is a 7 all day long image

    I grade it lovely!!
    TPG'ing grades it a 66.
And like above I'd like you to rotate the coin a bit so I can see the luster image
    Pictures make it hard.
    Toning makes it hard.

Need the following OBW rolls to complete my 46-64 Roosevelt roll set:
    1947-P & D; 1948-D; 1949-P & S; 1950-D & S; and 1952-S.
Any help locating any of these OBW rolls would be gratefully appreciated!

I'll go 66+. I think there are just a touch too many marks to keep it from 67.
  • fivecentsfivecents Posts: 11,207 ✭✭✭✭✭
MS65 due to obverse having dull muted luster.
  • stmanstman Posts: 11,352 ✭✭✭✭✭
Since some have questioned luster...... it's very nice, not muted or dull. The obverse not quite as much luster as reverse, but cartwheels quite nicely. Reverse has better luster than image depicts as well.

I'm not the only one who gets hits for the photos not showing the luster. LOL

I'm at a 66 on this. I see what looks like hits on her cheek near her mouth. I could be wrong though.

Of the million or so uncirculated 1884-CC dollars, this is one of the top few hundred thousand prettiest coins, IMO
