coin star

Went to grocery store with my wife yesterday. Saw a coinstar machine towards the back of the store and remembered reading on this forum about various finds people have found. Checked the rejected bin and to my surprise there was coins. 1969 quarter , 1994 dime, movie theater token , and last but not least a silver 1964 dime. Very cool for my first stop by a coinstar. Will remember to check it each time we are at the supermarket now. Just thought I would share

    Congratulations!
Nice little haul there. Super fun finding silver!
The coinstar reject bin is one of my favorite reasons in visiting the grocery store.
Just last week, I found a lone 1963 dime left behind.
Have found lots of coins, silver had been elusive for me.

Congrats. on your first find! To me, the silver dime seems to be the most popular find in the silver category? Don't forget to check under the front of the machine as well. I found plenty there in my visit to the Coin Star box!image

    Free fun!
I have to believe it is easier to find silver at the coinstar than it is roll searching. You probably wont pull any 1964 Kennedy halves, but pre-1965 Roosies abound

Machine normally does not reject non silver US coins...Yours must be Chinese counterfeits. image

Normally it doesn't, I have however found handfuls of $3-4 in seemingly normal US coins, on a couple of occasions.

    Most often, it's foreign stuff.

    Edited to add:

I have resisted the temptation to look under and behind the machine, though tempted.

Quarter had a small gouge in it , maybe thats why it was rejected? Will check under front of machine next time im there although my wife may lose it seeing me on all fours looking under there. image

I have found up to $2 in change in the reject bin...usually all U.S. coins... occasionally Canadian quarters and I have also found several Euro coins. Have not looked under the machine yet...

When saying, "under the machine". I do not literally mean, under. Just right under the front. Of what one can see from not bending over.image

    Good find!

Does the wife roll her eyes when you say to her that you're going to check out the coinstar machine for change?

Take a look at what a member on another coin forum I am a member of found actually under the machine. I would get down on all fours for that! All I ever find are pennies with gunk on them, nothing special.

I found a '64-D dime on Tuesday along with a handful of Canadian. The only finds today are common current USA or Canadian.
