Does a holed coin make it more likely to be genuine as opposed to counterfeit?

Curious whether counterfeit coins ever come holed and whether a hole can give a clue to it being real. Your thoughts folks?

Many counterfeits are intentionally damaged, cleaned or messed with in order to hide the fact that they're counterfeit.
Or to reveal that fact. I've seen quite a few counterfeits with holes as well as edge test cuts, bites, chopmarks, etc...

Damage to a coin is no indication of authenticity or its being counterfeit. Many counterfeits are intentionally damaged, cleaned or messed with in order to hide the fact that they're counterfeit.

Don't give the Chinese any ideas. Most collectors view a hole as the most drastic form of damage aside from extensive mutilation. I think that hole might lower the chances of the piece turning out to be a counterfeit, but it's not at all something that you can assume as a marker for authenticity.

Was still a $1,000 coin in that condition at that time. We bought it back. What would the holed coin be worth if genuine?
