    Google works pretty well.

In all seriousness there are some bigger firms, IAG, Noble etc that you could check out.

I would just do an internet search.... fastest way and get directions at the same time.

  • Thank you for the suggestions, did the Google search, just put the question to the boards hoping for some in country experience on the best inventory!

Went to the land of Oz in '12.

The lady who accompanied me showed me to Here

    What better name ? "downies"

There I purchased a half ounce 'roo. Brought it back to the U.S.A.
    Sent it to PCGS .
It graded MS 69 and sits, to this day, on my website.

Spent a month in Australia a long time ago; collected a type set from circulation, but didn't have time or inclination to visit coin shops.

There's another thread about a guy going to China and apparently plans to go shopping for coins, too

I'm going to start a thread about how I'm going to the supermodel convention in Jamaica, does anyone know of a good place to look for coins while I'm there? image

I recommend you avoid the vegemite .

Seriously , it will be tough to find any back here if you get hooked on it.

Yeah.....when I went, the best place to look was a little resort next to Sandals on the 7 mile beach part image

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

My wife and I were in Sydney in 2006 and decided to visit the Mint. We thought that we might get a tour or see some of the old coin presses. Stopped at a nearby coin shop for more info and were surprised that they didn't know any more about the facility.
Well, it used to be the Sydney mint but it had been turned into a French restaurant. So, unless you fancy French cuisine don't make the Sydney mint a stop on your trip.

Whenever I travel outside the US, I don't visit coin shops but instead I bring home circulated change and bills of the native country.
