My 2016 Dallas ANA National Money Show report

Was looking forward to this show for a few reasons, looking for more coins was just one of them. We (me and my wife) live in San Antonio and could have easily driven to Dallas, even though I despise it with a passion. To help with that, we took the Texas Eagle Amtrak train as an alternative. While we did have delays on our way up to Dallas, the overall experience was enjoyable and would we do it again. We stayed at the Marigold Hotel (with the Pegasus on top), which was close to everything we needed to get to, since we didn't have a car. That's a place I would stay at again as well; it included breakfast, an afternoon happy hour, then cookies and milk in the evening!
Now on to the coin show. The convention was a short easy walk from our hotel, it helped that the weather was nice the entire trip. I attended the show part of Thursday and only a portion of Friday, since we had other things we wanted to do. From what I saw during my time there, attendance was light to moderate. The ANA kids section was awful lonely since school was in session. The exhibits and displays were awesome, and it was pretty cool to see a news channel covering the 1943-S bronze cent on display. The dealers I talked to said the show started a bit slow, but was picked up as time went on.
This was my agenda for the show:
Submit 5 raw coins for grading by PCGS - done, Hoping for good grades sometime later.
Extend my ANA membership and get one of those 2016 Eagles - done.
Donate an extra Whitman Half Cent/Large Cent book to the kids section - done.
Sell my AU details 1832 bust half - done.
Have a good time and look for some more bust halves for my collection - done!
Here are the coins I got at the show:
PCGS MS-66 RD, I really like the subtle pastel tone on this one. Surprised it's not an RB:

PCGS MS-65, always had a weakness for blue Morgans:

I've been working on a set of Mexican 20 centavos with the pyramid, it was great to find the first year they were made:

And finally the guess the grade coin, an 1812/1 bust half (of course!) This one caught my eye on Thursday, but I thought about it overnight and got it on Friday. The sea blue-green toning and nice luster was calling out to me, even though I already have a nice 1812/1. I'll reveal the grade and the dealer I got it from sometime tomorrow.

Overall, it was a great show for me, and there was plenty to do outside the show as well. We went to the Dallas Museum of Art and the Perot Nature and Science Museum. Both are worthy of attending and blowing a good part of the day. Now making plans for the next big show, most likely the Long Beach September one.

MS65
?
XF40
I like your blue Morgan too.
Mike
Surprised that Lincoln is Rd too, unless it turned in the holder? I have an 1874 cent with just a trace of light green tone on the rev, and was told
it would R&B and PCGS.
I'll guess XF40 on the Bust half also - I'll even guess Sheridan Downey as the dealer.
...have you ever been in Kilimanjaro? Neither have I. It must have been two other guys.

The nice 1812/1 bustie graded XF-40, which quite a few of you guessed. I bought it from Rich Uhrich, who always has nice eye candy in his case or on his site. It's my first purchase from him and hopefully not my last! To me, it looks closer to a 50, based on the luster and the details on the eagle. I guess I can't compare it to the 1830's dates. Either way, I really like this piece.
