1964 Peace Dollar

The other night I was watching Pawn Stars and a guy brings in a 1964 Peace Dollar...I caught most of the dialogue about the coin, and found it very interesting....anyone know where I can find one?

Yes, that episode showcased one of Dan's 1964 Peace Dollar overstrikes.

eBay often has some listed. Be aware that not all "1964" Peace Dollars are the "Carr" version.

Here are a couple web pages of interest:

I should have bought one at the time of issue... they are staying up there... Cheers, RickO

I am so glad to have bought mine from DCarr when he issued them. This is the MS68 version. Now if it would just tone a little!

It's really incredible to think that the Mint actually produced a total of 316,076 circulation strike 1964-D Peace dollars (not including 30 test strike pieces) and they all were melted down. Sad story.

By the way ... does anyone know what would happen if I sent my DCarr overstrike coin to PCGS for grading. I realize that it would be slabbed as Genuine Counterfeit ... but I would be interested to get a TrueView photo of it.

They wouldn't confiscate it, would they?

They wouldn't even slab it. Unless they recently changed their policy on DCarr material.

Still have one (it came back to me) I sold it to a man some time ago. It was my last one ( of 5) , to a guy who , after a week, decided to trade it in and buy a $10 Gold Indian. It was a $400 exchange toward his Eagle and I'm okay with whatever the value is currently. I initially paid a hundred bucks. It's beautiful. Period.
Case dismissed. (who needs the case ? )

And with that thank you Mr Carr for keeping up the trade ( private business matters)

And that's a 1964 D Peace Dollar. None were minted in Philadelphia , only in Colorado. image

I can't tell you how many times I have heard/read that!

Daniel Carr items don't stick around his website for very long. I had one opportunity to purchase one of those three ounce silver bars, but I did not have the means until payday...to late...again.

    D. Carr has minted some amazing pieces.

It would be hard to outdo what he has already done.

However, I'm sure he is working hard at it.

    Just keeps getting better.

The speed at which his products sell, and the premium the secondary market commands, says much.

How do you know when coins are released? I see some I would like, but everything is sold out. Does he have a schedule of when coins are being released? I wish there was a way to sort on his site and only see things that are still available.

Ahh, thanks for letting me know PCGS would not slab it! After I wrote "Genuine Counterfeit" I realized that made no sense!

Robec did a bang up job photographing my coin.

I do think it's cool that DCarr uses a REAL Peace Dollar as a blank when he mints them with the new date. His tweak was moving the mintmark to a "different" spot than that used by the Denver mint. The D mintmark is way off the tail on DCarr's coin.

Gosh he does great work tho!

Just for fun, this is another one of DCarr's beauties that Robec photographed for me ...

I believe that he is going to do something similar like the Indian Head (Buffalo) Nickel Centennial One Ounce Silver Round.

    I would like to see DCarr Walkers for ALL the missing years: 1922, 1924, 1925, 1926, 1930, 1931, 1932.

Premium price for a complete set of high-grade proofs.

    And a one-year-only business-strike with a lower price.

    I bet they'd sell-out in a heartbeat.
