Thank you, Al. Next up....the really fun stuff. Tomorrow I will be posting my Topps Misc Album #1. That album is made up of Topps test, inserts, and misc cards that are not oversized from 1951 to 1989.
Note: This album consists of 1951 - 1989 Topps inserts, test issues, and miscellaneous cards that are not odd sized. I have an odd sized album for those.
Originally posted by: DanBessette I love that you included the 68 Cepeda and 72 Torre puzzle backs!! I did the same with my Yaz collection: 68, 69 and 72 backs.
nice job with the odd ball stuff. how do you keep track of what you have and need?

nice job with the odd ball stuff. how do you keep track of what you have and need?
First and foremost....the SCD Standard Catalog. That is a must. Then, I also have a database compiled by a longtime dedicated Cardinals collector on Net54 that was generous enough to send it to me years ago. Those 2 things combined, plus internet research has been the key for me.
My thanks to Al (bishop) who sent me my very first SCD Catalog several years ago. He has also helped me acquire a few cards here and there.
Just a quick note to say why I have not updated this thread in a while. First of all, I've been very busy. Secondly, I have been trying to fill in a few holes in the next album (Topps Misc #2). After that, will be Topps Misc #3. Then, after that, will be my favorite album of all.... Topps Odd Sized. It will included all of the larger and bulkier cards. There is some rare stuff in that album.
Also, since I posted my 1999 Topps set, I have acquired the entire #220 HR subset of Mark McGwire with home run cards 1-70. I will take pictures soon and post.
I have now updated the 1999 Topps team set with the entire Mark McGwire #220 HR 1-70 subset. Pictures have been updated in the correct spot on page 4. I have also posted below.
The logic behind my placement in the album pages is that I am treating HR #1 as the main card, and #2 - #70 as variations. I always put variations at the end of the main team set.
Added this 1974 Topps Actions Emblems (w/ California). Picture updated in correct spot. Here is the card.
These cloth stickers also have a cardboard counterpart. It is my belief that the cardboard versions are proofs for the issued cloth version. I am trying to verify this. At this time, I am not pursuing the cardboard versions.
Note: This album consists of 1990 - 1999 Topps inserts, test issues, and miscellaneous cards that are not odd sized. I have an odd sized album for those.
Also, this album is a work in progress. It is almost finished up to 1998. I only need a few up through 1998. I have not really started 1999, having only 1 card. As you all know, the mid 1990's exploded with inserts and miscellaneous issues. I will be working on 1999 this year.
Another note: Chrome and Chrome Refractors have their own album and are not included here.

Nice updates to this thread. As for the Topps Tek cards do you think you will ever go after all the patterns? I have been working on the Cubs players in Topps Tek for a while now. Thanks again for sharing your collection.
No. I refuse to go that far. I would liken that to going after every number of a serial numbered card.
I can understand that. I am getting closer on the 98 Tek cards. I have Sosa done in 1999 and 2000 and I am almost done with Wood in 99 also. I do not have all the diffractors or gold in 99 and 2000 and I wont really go after those most likely.
The only thing I went that far with is the 1999 Topps 220 McGwire HR subset. I have all 70 of those. I did that because those cards are from the regular set.
I added a few more cards to my Topps Misc #1 and Topps Misc #2 albums.
The first one is a really unusual card in that it is not in the SCD Catalog. It was in insert card that came with the 1983 Topps Glossy Send Ins Set. It is an offer card with a picture of a 1983 Topps Whitey Herzog. On the back is a checklist of the 40 cards in the Glossy Send Ins Set. I'm calling it - "Plastic shield offer w/ 83T Herzog; checklist back".
I also picked up a few more from 1998, which is still incomplete.
1998 Topps Gallery Players Private Issue Mark McGwire 1998 Topps Gallery Players Private Issue Auction Alan Benes 1998 Topps Stars Luminaries Mark McGwire (Silver #'d to 75) (very tough to find)
Just added a huge addition to my Cardinals team set collection today. I have been looking for this card for over 10 years. This particular one has been on Ebay for 2 or 3 years, but never sold because it was over priced. I was patiently waiting for another to become available. Recently, I have had some flexibility in my card budget and was able to purchase this, even though it was over priced.
This 1970 Topps Candy Lids Rich Allen is a super rare card.
Well, the impossible has happened. I have "lassoed the Moon" so to speak. This week, I acquired a 1955 Topps Hocus Focus Wally Moon. This card is the rarest card in my collection, with only 1 other copy known. The other known copy is owned by Al (bishop). (When I say "known", I mean by those on this and other boards that follow this issue). This card was only recently discovered in the last few years. Before 2009, it was unknown who card #19 was in this set. Now, we know that is Cardinals outfielder Wally Moon. Of course, being a Cardinals collector that already owned the Harvey Haddix, I cringed when I found out that Wally Moon was in this very rare set. I thought I would never own one.
Last week, I got a tip that lead me to this card. It came with another Harvey Haddix. Both the Moon and the Haddix have condition issues on the back. They were glued to an album of construction paper. The Moon had black construction paper on the back and the Haddix had off white construction paper. I am thinking it is possible that they were originally affixed to the "Hocus Focus" album. At least the Moon could have been because of the black paper. Anyway, I did a few minor repairs to the back and they look somewhat better. Since my original Haddix is in better condition, I have listed it for sale to try to recoup money spent. I am using the copy with back issues for my collection.
I had already posted a 2016 Topps Series 1 team set. I now have Series 2, Update, and all Short Print and Super Short Print Variations. These super short prints were ridiculously expensive. I spent $117 on the Tommy Pham variation. The variations start with Yadier Molina's big glove card at the bottom of the 4th picture.
Note: This album is a little different than Misc #1 and Misc #2. For one thing, it starts in 2003. Up to 1998 (with 1999 in progress), the Misc #2 album is everything Topps put out. This Misc #3 Album is more parallel sets (not including Chrome and Refractors, which is in another album. This album is more Factory Team sets, Minis, etc. Once I get done with 1999, I will add 2000 to 2002 to this album. But right now, this album is just basic parallel stuff for the most part.
This is my favorite album. This album includes some of the rarest issues in my collection. This album includes cards that are larger with length, width, and thickness. It also includes a couple of PSA graded cards. None of these cards would fit very well in my regular albums, that is why I kept this album separate. The 1968 Topps 3D Curt Flood PSA 5 would in my Misc Album #1, but I did not want to bust it out due to value.
Also, another note about this album - some of the issues are out of chronological order. For instance, all pins and coins are stored in the back of my album because I was utilizing a plastic page for coins. It fit better in the back.
