Locating coins at Long Beach

IIRC there is a database of coins being offered by dealers who participate in a database with their inventory

Does anyone know how to access it?

I'm planning on going to the early bird PCGS pass on Wednesday and speaking of bird, I'll stop by the last Pioneer Chicken in Bell Gardens on the way home.

Fortunately OJ won't be eating there as he was in this 1984 commercial

You can access it now online

    PCGS Coin Search

Once you are at the show, they usually have ipads stationed around the bourse, but definitely at the collectors corner/cce table.

This is a very handy tool. I found a nice 1856-S gold dollar at the fall Baltimore show with it. It also gives you a chance to locate some of the coins you have seen on-line so that you can decide if you like them.

I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

Would be more handy of a tool if more dealers used it. I'd guess maybe 10% use it tops, and of those, not all upload all of their inventory and/or keep it 100% up to date.

I participated in it for awhile, but it ended up being too expensive and too time consuming to keep it updated with my current inventory. Especially considering that most collectors at the show had no idea what the Collectors Corner coin search even was when I would tell them about it.

I found that when I was dealer that putting stuff up on the Web was a lot more work than buying and selling it at the shows. You have to take the photos and post the material sometimes with a description. All of this take time and money.

Sometimes it's just not worth it. There are also lag issues. I followed up on a few pieces at the Winter FUN show that were still on the Web, but had been sold before the show even began.

Very neat site apparently (to me) buried within collectorscorner.

    Cool - Thanks.

There are about 11k coins listed.

I see there are 6 listed of what I'm looking for, but two I'm already aware of on HA and the other 4 are too high grade for my wallet.
Oh well, the hunt is half of the fun image

It does seem to be the "high brow" crowd from those listed...then again it is Long Beach.

The reason most of the coins are higher end is the cost of listing. CCE and Collectors corner member dealer coins are the ones listed. Many of the dealers who sell lower end or mid level coins can't justify the extra cost of doing business on Collectors corner, and the dealers who are already there chose to list the coins with the most potential to cover costs.
