Bought it raw real cheap a few weeks ago. Looks even better in hand. Opinions? Guess the grade.

    Looks awesome, I'll say 66.
MS66 taste on an MS63 budget.

it either looks much better in hand - luster / eye appeal or you won the grading lottery

I also like it as a 66, maybe a 66+ if the color in hand is off the charts.

The strike is a little weak judging by the complete lack of step detail and the pock marks on the cheek (which are typically flaws in the planchet that were not smoothed out by the soft strike). However the fields are super clean and free of contact marks, especially on the obverse. I give it a 65 for strike and a 67 for surfaces, so a 66 overall.

I grade it gorgeous! I also guessed 66 but the previous comment caused me to look it up. That is a spectacular raw purchase and submission result. How much did it cost and where can I find that dealer?

The obverse is well struck but the reverse Monticello is very mushy.... Cheers, RickO

I guessed 66 or 66+ and then I looked it up. WOW!

I'm thinking 65 because of strike.
    When in doubt, don't.

I don't grade this series much, but as alluded to earlier, the reverse is extremely weakly struck. I'll say 65+.

edited to add... Looked it up. Consider it an early Birthday gift. No way that grade is that mushy on the reverse.

I bought it from Fairfield's Coins in Fort Wayne for under $100. We both thought it had a shot at MS67 so it was a reasonable price. I hit the graders on the right day. I'm serious when I say it looks better in hand. The thing just glows with color and luster.

    I would've graded it a 66+ shot 67. I wouldn't have stretched for the extra plus.

I will not look up the grade- it is an attractive coin. I suppose I either do not appreciate all the ins and outs of this series or how the TPG view these coins.

And this statement is predicated on my own submissions- including some that did very well and those I thought would do well and did not.

Great eye appeal, decent surfaces and soft strike.

It must look amazing in hand.

Therefore, please let me know when it will be up for auction.

It might look good with it's cousins here: http://www.pcgs.com/setregistry/publishedset.aspx?s=10624

Good Catch. I was wondering who made the population grow.

Very nice. I like the toning. I dunno on the grade guess. 66 or 67, I suppose.

It's a solid 65 with a shot at 66 for color--if the graders are in a good mood.

I would have graded it 65+. 67+ would have to have a much sharper strike, especially on the reverse. Great color........maybe PCGS is considering color now?

OINK, I feel like I've pointed this out to you before. PCGS has ALWAYS considered color. It is in their grading guidelines.
