H&C's collection blows this, my former collection, and every other I know about out of the water.

He would, however, approve, I think. That's quite impressive for a holey coin collection.

Yes, do note the spelling: it's "holey", with an "e". These are not sacred relics. image

(I've had to explain this in regard to my title a time or two. I'm a decent person, but make no claims to "holy" sainthood. Did have fun with the "holey" coins, though.)

Yeah, me too, but only because I never had one on my Holey Coin Vest! I had a few DB quarters and halves, but no half dime, dime, or dollar.

A lot of different types there. A nice assortment. I would be interested in a few of them if there are dates and mints I need. Pictures are a little small for me to read.

Just think of all the babies that did their teething on these holey coins.....especially the larger ones.

I noticed there are no Liberty Seated Dollars in this collection. Here's a key date I'm proud to own. Someone was careful to locate the hole so that it does not disturb the reverse letters or design except for part of three dentils and one star point.

There is one place in numismatics were holes are okay, sometimes even welcomed by hardcore collectors. People wore political tokens in the 19th century the way people once wore political buttons. A hole was often used to suspend the piece on a pin, string or ribbon. Here is a piece from 1840 for incumbent president Martin Van Buren. The original string is still with it.

Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

Great Collection. If there is a coin that has been minted you will usually find one with a hole in it. I personally like holed Bust half dollars , silver commems and gold commems. Like LM said Holed and Creative is the king of holed collections.

That is quite a collection.... and those key date coins are painful to view. I have a couple of

holed coins (no keys) that I have come across... one in circ, one given. Cheers, RickO

Thanks, it was found by a picker loose with other coins inside a box that was part of an auction lot. I wrote an article that was published in the Gobrecht Journal about my adventure to buy it from the lucky owner.
