Thank you for the kind words with the pen.

I didn't post it on here to sell though lol Im smarter than that. I know the buy, sell, trade page lol. But if there are any interest then you can just message me rather then on here image.

Overall it took me about 2 hours to complete of making the pen. From cutting, drilling, lathing and finishing all the way up to a 5000 grit sandpaper. There are Metal Pen kits for the guts of the pen, but the wood was carved and shaped using the lathe.

Here is my page if you want to see other projects that I have done. I know STONE you might appreciate some of it as well being you were active duty, as I am as well, well 17 years now couple more to go.

That's a nice pen. Does it write upside down? Like the ones the astronauts use?

That is very nice work, great job! I've been adding tools and doing more and more woodworking the last few years. Currently working on a retro Galaga-style arcade cabinet for the kids... gonna put one of the multicade boards in it.

What type of lathe are you using?

    And what type of finish?

    Swartz,

I have a JET 12"x21" Variable speed lathe, and for my finish I sand down to a 500 grit then apply 2p-10 or CA glue. then in stages I sand with the last one being the 5000 grit. Makes it looking like glass.

    Baz,

The hard part in making different projects it that it always requires different tools all the dang time. You can't complete a project with ought buying more and more then eventually you will be ending up like me lol. Thats awesome what your doing for your kids, Im sure they will like it, you should already plan on what your next project is going to be lol image because as soon as everyone sees it and especially the wife likes it, then all of a sudden it's a lot more around the house lol.

    Bill,
Im sure it will write upside down like the astronauts lol but for how long I couldn't tell you I haven't tried it image

  • Did you post this hobby a few years ago? If not, someone definitely did and hopefully they speak up so that you two can connect.
Nice work. This makes me want to join some people I know who collect pens.

    Awesome!
