Here is my contribution for October. Another Brooks Robinson. Takes me over 20% complete for his Basic Set. 1968 Topps is one of my favorite cards of his. It's a clean image (unlike some of the 70s issues). Centering and focus are on point on this one! Card has a bit of snow on his sleeve. Am I the only one who feels that scanners magnify snow?? Held in hand, I don't even notice it.
This month is off to a great start. There is too much extremely nice stuff to comment on individually. That being said, everyone who has posted has made nice collection boosts.
Two striking cards in that Rose and Bench. High end examples. Color really grabs the eye on those. Love the backgrounds and the green grass.
Fired up to complete the basic Mick run with this '57! The 57 is such a beast due to image focus problems, tilt, and centering. Knowing a perfect example in all three of those respects was unrealistic, I'd been willing one just like this into existence through sheer hope. Just top bottom being off, as crispy registered an image as can be, and no sea-sick tilt. PUMPED. He joins the '55 below, which came right before it.
finally completed my signed berra run and slightly bummed, per say. i had been working on her for quite sometime, slowly but surely. of course, he just passed and was expecting the cards to come flying outta the woodworks and at insane prices. well i have to give a shout out to ebayer lesleynut. he posted some cards and purchased all of these at very reasonable prices. from what i gathered his reason for selling is/was rather admirable and from the prices we agreed on, i feel certain that it was completely true. certainly not the price gouger as i saw on some other cards listed...kinda makes me sick, honestly. people holding for death. ugh.
anyways, with great happiness and a lil sadness that my berra run is complete w/ these additions!

That 57 Mick is pretty incredible with the clarity/color. Never seen one with such vivid and rich in color. Well played in finishing off the Mick run.
Love the Berra run. I have always been a fan of the '61. The stadium background is really cool. Congrats on a great accomplishment.
I just pulled the trigger on this '54 Mays. It's one of my all-time favorite cards. It just mesmerises me for some reason. I had a PSA 8 many many years ago and have always wanted to eventually get another example. I was thinking about going after the PSA 7 copy PWCC has up right now, but beside the slightly better T/B centering on the PSA 7, I felt this one is every bit as nice and it will be less than half the cost.
Great centering on the Mays. 54's are tough and that 6 is a beauty! I generally always look at the card and not the grade. Prior to looking at the top portion of the holder I guessed a 7.......nice score!
JDRF saves lives, let not another child walk down the path of juvenile diabetes alone. Consider giving either time or money, it will come back to you. $15,800 and counting....
The latest addition to my pre-war St. Louis collection! It's a beater but A) The price was right I needed A T206 Geyer & C) I didn't have a Tolstoi back in my collection yet. I also like the faint wet sheet transfer from the back of another Tolstoi on the front of the card.

Matt, Congrats on the additions!! Have you ever thought about designing a website to show off your collection?
Thanks Dan .. I have picked up some Brady's that I have not shown ... I'm waiting for the next Brady to get here to post it. Not a Rookie but I'm excited to add it
Looking for a Glen Rice Inkredible and Alex Rodriguez cards
I can't wait to see! While I don't officially collect Brady, I've picked up some nice cards of him lately. And when I complete the Hannah and Cappelletti masters I think I'm gonna collect Brady hardcore.

Nice mantles. For your mantle run, are you trying to get majority in psa 7 or 8?
Thanks, War! For this run I'm just trying to get the prettiest overall cards I can find and afford. I love how simply aesthetically cool Mick's cards look, how they chronicle his career and the man himself through the ages (i.e., that great post that was written a little ways back by a fellow collector about the 69, its colors, the portrait, etc.), and also fell in love most of all with the challenge of finding really strong ones.
Grade-wise, I still try to get lucky and find under graded specimens or eye appeal anomalies, but it seems 7-8 is the sweet spot for finding a special card that can hit the eye as mint or super close to it at first blush, especially in hand. Though thankfully I found a 6 of the 54B and 56T, and a 6.5 of the 52B. I will always love my 2s and 3s that hit the eye lovely, but for this discrete run, out of such fondness for the man and his cards, it's all about the specialness of near perfect examples of each of his cards. From the PD issues on the black background of the 61, to the focus and tilt on a 57, to the print issues on the 60, tilt on the 69, the list goes on, it reminds of the fun in the 75 Mini Set, in terms of each card's challenging idiosyncrasies, giving each card its own personality, so to speak.
Just commenting on the few posts above this, those are a couple of great looking Mantles and the Berra run is fantastic and impressive. Some serious Big Red cardboard being flashed here, with the mint Rose and Bench. For modern cards it doesn't get much better looking than that Marino. I tend to like the clean look of the high end products with the white borders, IMO they make the patch and/or auto pop more off that simple background. I absolutely agree that the 1954 Mays is a special card, something about the image of a smiling legend in his youthful prime and the bright yellow background just seems to work.
These are all from my latest submission I just got back from PSA. Its a shame about the Yount, I pulled it from a rack pack several years ago and just about cried when I saw the print defect.
The budget has been tight lately, but I did manage to add this mid-grade card to the collection. I felt the centering was strong, including centered perforations. The card does have surface issues, with the black smudges. I can live with those. It lacks the small black "dash" frequently found under Magic's name, which was part of my list of flaws to avoid.
Will this card be part of the PSA "Mount Rushmore" of basketball?
The Roger is just a great set design. Would be better if they had the MLB license but nonetheless,
The Brady is my first Brady Auto ... It didn't scan too well. It is 1/25 and after his name it says Tuck Rule. On the Reverse is a description of the game and moment when that became a thing. One of those cards that capture a moment in sports history that fits into my collection.

While not a great poker hand, this pair of 4s has me grinning ear to ear. I used a portion of my eBay Bucks to scoop these at less than 75 for the pair, and I think they look nicer than the bulk of the alternatives that were individually under 100. They may be graded technically correct, but they sure look nicer. The 61 has 2 small indents, as if it was under a paper that was written on. The 71 has the obvious upper left corner, a touch along the left edge, and a small fish eye...but this looks far better than a 4 to me and I'm stoked to add this pair.
52-90 All Sports, Mostly Topps, Mostly HOF, and some assorted wax.
Just got my sub back that popped a couple days ago. Here are the 10s from the sub
This was an eBay bucks purchase:
Also got a few Heritage Kershaw rookies that I am going to submit and a few 80s baseball sets that I will need to see if I can scour a few nice cards for grading purposes.
<< <i>Wow!!! The Randal Cunningham is a super tough card in a 10. Did you sub or purchase? >>
Love that Randall RC! His Jheri Curl would make Darryl from "Coming To America" very proud.
I remember a play where Randall was scrambling in his own end zone avoiding the pass rush against the Bills at Rich Stadium. Bruce Smith almost sacked him multiple times. Cunningham scrambled for what seemed like 5 minutes and unloaded a laser that was in the air for 65+ yards to Fred Barnett for a TD. One of the best plays I have ever witnessed.
Baseball, it is said, is only a game. True. And the Grand Canyon is only a hole in Arizona.

Those are certainly oddball but cool to look at. Who would think to submit 1924 golf cards of scenery? Are they worth the fees? Or am I way off and they're going for 200 bucks each?

3) Pout.
4) Wait around until previously mentioned adversary gets card graded and holdered, and then offers for resale.

Nice Work. I have to think so. It includes the 2-for-1 RC with the bonus of Dr. J...whose RC may miss out on the Rushmore.
