Will this 55 DD CAC?

Hi All,

I posted this 55 DD in an earlier thread. As I stated in the thread this coin graded AU58 by our host.
Does anyone have an opinion as to whether it will CAC sticker?

Probably not. In my experience, CAC looks for a strictly brown coin with no "blue" like yours has.

    "my opinion"
it shouldn't as au58 looks about right
not under graded or eye appeal worth noting

    don't get me wrong...it's a pleasing example
but it just doesn't stand out

CAC will sticker if fairly graded, and this appears to be.

    Go for it

  • What do you feel is the advantage to have this coin CACed? Do you belive the grade is wrong? Are you hoping for more money at sale with the little sticker? I would say it is 50/50 on your cent but any collector of those is going to see it as a quality coin and will not need that sticker to tell them so. JMHO

Why worry it's a great coin.
I don't think a sticker will add mush.

    Thanks for your reply.
As to the grade I defer to others more knowledgeable, this is definitely not my area of expertise .
However the question was brought up by the owner of the coin as to whether or not it could bring more money if it had a sticker.
Which then brought up the question if it would actually sticker.

Interesting perspective. That would suggest that coins that do not speak for themselves are the ones that should be sent to CAC.

With the USPS increased insurance rates.... Will a $100 round trip for a chance to sticker make a difference image

It may not increase the coins market value enough to profit from the cost to ship, however CAC stickers do seem to make coins more attractive to many buyers and may make the coin sell faster/easier. Imo it will sticker.

Who cares. I think it looks great.

This is exactly what's wrong with this hobby. How many opinions do you need?

I guess enough to make a profit.

I do not think it will sticker but why not try?

From my experience, a stickered 1955 DDO cent is much easier to sell and will garner at least $50 to $75 more.

Based 100% on the OP's pics, I would not sticker this coin.

Rough spots on the portrait, carbon spots around "WE", and the overall look look too glossy....again based solely on the OP's pics without seeing the coin in hand.

I do not believe that CAC would sticker the coin either.

What is it saying to you?

If getting a sticker is purely for sale profit, in this case, I would say it is not worth it. Certainly, for a collector, it is not necessary. Cheers, RickO

I think it has a good chance of getting a green bean.

In addition, a green bean will absolutely, positively make the coin sell easier and for more money.
