You seem to be one of those ardent conspiracy theorist-types, so I'm certainly not going to try to change your opinion.
You can believe whatever you want. I'm glad that there are others on this board who don't see the world like you do.
<< <i>Kencope, you are obviously very well versed in eBay selling. You have 236 live auctions and feedback of almost 3700. There is no way you would not have done any research on Morgans and original rolls and you certainly would have read feedback on the seller, trying to trade with you, before coming here and asking such basic questions. It seems you are in cahoots with the Morgan roll seller somehow.
As far as the other stuff, I don't care. It looks like everyone on that site got banned, including you.
Are you referring to the one neutral you posted? Did you also see the 5 positives for the same type of item? I'm not defending this seller, and none of this matters any more as I've already declined his offer, but to a novice outside observer I think 5 positives and a neutral might raise suspicion but certainly doesn't scream "scammer". It's not like the guy has a 70% rating and negatives all over the place.

<< <i>A self proclaimed astute baseball card collector who isn't really interested in making the trade comes here to ask for advice about making the trade explaining that he knows nothing about what he wants to trade his rare baseball card for. He won't give the value of his rare card or tell what it is, but wants to know the value of the coins he is contemplating on trading them for even though he really doesn't. Baseball cards are really know different than coins in many ways but being an expert in cards he cannot understand why the shear number of coins doesn't make sense whether he sees them or not. Would he blindly buy a package of cards that he can't verify as originally wrapped from sometime ago? And being completely unknowledgeable about coins he also doesn't like some of the answers he is getting, does that make sense. >>
Sheerly you jest! He isn't wanting to trade, he was OFFERED a trade. In most or all collectibles if it seems too good to be true then it probably is. If you don't know anything about the coins it's hard to decide if the deal is fair. There is a high likelihood that the roll is not what it seems to be, but nobody has provided proof thru feedback from unhappy purchasers that the rolls aren't legit.
If the OP was still interested, any deal would be contingent upon receiving the roll/s, opening and appraising the contents.
He doesn't like the answers because some of the replies are just dumb. Just give an honest opinion without being an ass about it. >>
I did provide proof from the sellers feedback in my post that stated the rolls are a scam. >>

Seriously Ken if you have moved on then do so. If you would truly like real information about coins stick around. That being said, the coin collecting community here is one of the most protective I have ever seen for novices to experts. The people here state things in a blatant manor and that is a very good thing as they coddle no one. You will also find that once you have a friend here they are like family, they are of one blood. This can not be said of many other hobbies.
You are dealing with people who have seen every scam out there and even if it does not seem like it everyone here is looking out for your best interests. Just take that to heart, stick around and learn something about that which you know nothing.
Have a great day and may your endeavors be fruitful.
Go ahead and click on that auction link. The $9,300 sale was a fake auction listing that was taken down by eBay. Some scammer had stolen a screen shot and listed a one-day auction. My card typically sells for around $20,000, but they don't pop up very often.
<< <i>Nice the card you're selling just sold recently for 9000.00 and you want 49,000.00 just no wonder you want to trade Go for the rolls
Hey ken if an auction has been pulled it will no longer be visible. Quite the premium for your card, sounds like a rainbow toned morgan from the sunnywood collection.
Absolutely correct. The auction Smittys refers to is no longer visible.
I of course have no idea what a rainbow toned Morgan from the Sunnywood collection means, but there are very, very few PSA 10 Peyton Manning Contenders Autographs and I have no interest in selling it unless at a premium.

Your card = sunnywood Morgan in that they bring a very large premium. In other words absolutely rare and beautiful coins.
<< <i>Hey wabbit. I looked it up from his eBay name. Assuming its the same shop as his ebay name, it's in Canon City, CO.
<< <i>
<< <i>positive reviews for his local shop that I looked up. >>
Hey kencope. Where is the shop and where are these reviews? How do you know of it/them? >>
>>
If you look at some of the links I posted about the seller you can find out the shop real easy. Sorry for the nastiness it is just a protective response, kind of like DON"T PUT YOU HAND IN THE FIRE! If you only knew how many times I have been yelled at you would not feel so bad. I have been an eclectic collector for a while and have only within the last couple of years started to get more serious about the coins I like. I therefore ask what many feel is uneducated questions but I learn from every response whether positive or negative. Just think about where those Morgan dollars were and how they were being used in the 1800s, very interesting when you look up what happened on the date of the coin. I will also say this, if the coin bug bites it will be painful but gratifying, you have been warned.

On 2nd thought. Do the trade with Canyon City Coin. You guys sort of deserve each other. Let us know how it turns out.
For a "player" with thousands of EBay feedbacks, yet believes that 100% Ebay feedback indicates "integrity," and neutrals don't count, this whole thread blows my mind. So where's the tooth fairy?
If you are familiar with MAGIC cards, my sister and her husband were BIG into the game, and my sister was part of the beta testing team.
My sister and her husband died 7 years ago, and I had to go in, with literally the milk still in the fridge, and clothes at the washing machine and try and make sense of everything, including there store.
The store employees pulled together the more valuable magic cards, and I was left with trying to understand them.
I posted a question on the main magic board about values and recognition, and was FLAMED to no end, the usual comments being something along the line of: "If you have so much, you should know the values"
OK, I did not know the values, and how to distinguish what was what. Some of the cards are PRICEY, for example here is one that sold for $8500
It took several years to figure them out, and sell them. I had thousands of cards laying about, and the store "kept" the cheap ones, which was well over 1 ton.
Years ago there was an "numismatic investment dealer" in Boston who sold rolls of Morgan dollars to his "investment clients." The rolls had BU (Brilliant Uncirculated) coins on each end, and it was implied that the coins in the middle were BU too. The dealer offered to buy them back depending upon the market when you sold them back to him. The catch was you could not open the rolls. If you did the the deal was off, and he was not a buyer.
You guessed it. The coins in the middle were circulated and only worth whatever worn silver dollars were worth at the time, which was less than his selling prices. After this guy got out of the coin business, I understood that he became a fortune teller in a neighboring state. At least the people who believed in his fortunes were better off then then unfortunate souls who was involved in his previous scam.
Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?
What would really be a nice gesture is if the OP would place one of those rolls in a "Giveaway"! This way, he can truly be one of us and we can finally find out if these rolls are a farce or legit.

<< <i>See this is what happens when sports card people enter the coin world before they've paid their dues.
Years ago I went to the Long Beach Show & there were a few open tables at the rear. They still wouldn't let them in the show to sell sports cards.
I'm sure this gentleman is an honest & forthright sports card vendor. He had honorable intentions in his first inquiry. I'm sure of it. >>
I just thought it would be best to set the record straight with my thoughts. The fact that I received a cryptic & annoying form of a Cease & Desist PM from the OP had absolutely nothing to do with the content of the post. Purely coincidental.
Reminds me of basic training when Carter was president. Drill Sgt yelled "FISH"…. Fish said, "YES DRILL SERGEANT" Drill sergeant barked , "Swim on over here " I started laughing … then proceeded to do about 100 push ups .
I think a lot of coin only people are missing one big ingredient to the sports card psyche. Sports card people often pay absurd amounts for materiel they never see by buying unopened packs of classic cards. For example, a 1986/1987 box of fleer basketball sells for about $35000 unopened with the hopes of getting as many as three Michael Jordan rookie cards. You can by three higher end MJ s for less, but the hunt is for the elusive PSA 10 (MS70 in coin lingo) that can go five figures. Perhaps the OP. Is using the same logic for coin rolls. Unopened sports card packs and boxes go for crazy money (check BBCExchange.com), so it would be a good assumption that coin rolls do the same for the inexperienced.
