29-D buff, former Yankee Collection
Here is another one of my recent crossovers. It was originally holdered by NGC and had a 'pedigree' of the "Yankee Collection". I never knew much about this collection/pedigree, aside from the fact it was a collection of toned coins submitted all at once for grading to NGC. If anyone has other or more detail on that collection, it would be wonderful if you could share. I've seen other 'Yankee Collection' pieces float around on the bourse floor from time to time and I know a fellow collector that owns the 37-S, and they are an eye appealing bunch.
In any event, it was the color that got me on this one. I acquired it from Angel Dee's in 2008, at a surprisingly small premium for the color. Very easy purchase to make. Strike is pretty typical for the 29-D, and some might say, believe it or not, that it was better than average for the date/MM on certain portions of the coin, the hair on the buffalo's head in particular. Posted mostly for viewing pleasure, but comments are always welcome.

As to strike-this from my abraded die book, reflecting part of the strike study I conducted from July, 2001 thru March, 2014. I actually observed around 2000 during this period, the 618 stated was just during the last 100,000 out of more than 300,000 total.
1929-D TOTAL # RECORDED-618 WEAK- 30% TYPICAL- 59% GOOD- 11% FULL- 0%
It often comes very poorly struck, especially on the reverse. This date has one of the highest percentages of weak strikes in the series, with many weak due to the strike rather than to die erosion.
I don't believe a true full strike of this date exists. There are 18 other dates/Mints of the regular issues and 10 more of the major varieties not seen (by me) with a full strike. Averages for the series as a whole, also based on these observations are shown below. Even the best of the full strikes rarely are-99% full detail will have to do for most dates except for the proofs and even a few of those fall short.

congrats as i'd be a proud papa too
image needs to be lightened up a lil as it's too dark
i know nothing about these yankee collection pedigree gismoes though
Not really looking for much these days but if I were, it might be a toner.
It turns out it was a 28-D NGC 64:

Hoard the keys.
Too many positive BST transactions with too many members to list.
Jom - that 28-D IS awesome, not sure what held back the technical grade but I could see myself ponying up 65 money for that piece. It has a pretty special strike itself, and the eye appeal is off the charts.
