Even on smart phone, I was able to get order through in about 5 minutes. Pleased about that.

Yup. And the sight is running fast. It would likely for anyone to get an order in quickly now. Amazing the difference that the higher mintage makes despite being a super popular President.
<< <i>Probably 20K orders or more now. Probably be gone in 5 more minutes >>
Or not...
Every minute longer it takes to sell out does not bode well for the flippers. Only a couple of sets have sold on eBay. By this time for the Ike sets a ton of them had already sold on eBay since the mint website had already been sold out for over 20 minutes.
What are people seeing in their order history on the mint website? I got in order 36XXX and it still hasn't shown up yet. Nothing there, but I did get an "order acknowledgement" email that said I should get an order confirmation email within 24 hours. A friend of mine got in an order with an order number about 3000 higher than mine. He hasn't received any e-mail, but his website order history shows his order as "Processing". Some weird inconsistency for sure...
It will take longer for 50k to be absorbed. These will sell out and anyone who got their order in before the 9:10 mark will be first strike eligible. Those 20-25k orders after will not have that much of an upside compared to the FS eligible sealed boxes.
Fell asleep at the wheel (or actually was working) and just hopped on and grabbed 2 sets in and out in under 60 seconds at 11:46 AM CST #3555***, email confirmation received already.

I was talking about sales that have completed since the sets actually went on sale 48 minutes ago, not presale. I'm only seeing 2 completed orders in that time. For Ike there were tons since the website sold out so fast. Dealers and collectors were snatching them up at lightning speed. I had my sets listed within 30 mins of ordering and they sold in 5 mins.

I have several orders in. The last one before the backorder was USM035468xx. I did place on order immediately after that was a backorder. That was USM035482xx. The difference ends up being 1400 orders, so its pretty close to accurate timing of the backorder @ 9:10 pst. Does anyone have an order # closer to the USM035482xx that isnt a backorder?
The earliest order posted here is USM03534xxx by BackroadJunkie (Please let me know if there is an earlier order #). This would indicate about 12,800 orders or roughly 25,600 coins. (assuming Backroad's third to last digit is a 0 which is most likely isnt). Safe to assume a 25k first run was sold.
Sales would start to drop off or many wouldn't order seeing the backorder is a month out, virtually guaranteeing a non FS coin. With 25k first strike coins sold, I can't blame them for not wanting to purchase knowing that there are so many first strike coins out there and they wont be owning one.

From the spread of order numbers published, that should put the total around 42K sold if everybody bought 2.

Lots of "pre-sales" sets sold already on the Bay. Looks like $120.-$150. range mostly. Just do an advanced search for Kennedy C&C "completed listings".

buy one boss so we can see the updated order numbers, looks like backordered at 25K at 12:10, and approximately 40K sold through 12:45 using some rough math....
I believe he is talking about sales completed today. There have only been 5 sales on ebay today that I can see, with only 1 occurring after the mint put these on sale
Friend of mine finally got out of his meeting. Not only did he get me two JFK sets, but 5 2015 $1 C&C sets. So to the Mint, you can keep those C&C sets on household limits until 2017 when they finally come off-sale for all I care...
Anyway, my 12:00 order: USM3534xxx. Friends 12:41 order: USM 3554xxx.
20K orders in 41 minutes. Even at 2/order, that's 40K sets. I think these'll last a while longer.
I hope these take all day to sell out. That would indicate to me the big shots with their robots were not able to buy the entire mintage in minutes. The longer it take the more spread out the mintage will be.

Still shows "Add To Bag"
I'll be watching Mint News Blog later today to get sales number. Guessing close to your 40k number by the end of the day.
edited to add Goldbully's high order number, USM03556xxx, bringing order numbers total to 22k. 40,000 sets sold still looks good.
Compared to the Ike and Truman, resale values on the bay are pretty underwhelming with Mint stock still available. Those guys sold them too quick. 10:33am and set is still available.

yes but the ones still available on the website are backordered until October, but more importantly they will not be eligible for First Strike designation.
Edit: I agree though that eBay is not currently looking promising for the flippers.

That's assuming only 1 set per order. Actual sales for that span of order numbers is almost certainly close to double that number.
