Are you fearfull?

mariner67mariner67 Posts: 2,746 ✭✭✭
PMs really seem to be in a secular bear market....could last decades.
As a stacker, at your age or stage in life are you worried?
PMs may not recover in some of our lifetimes.
I have been through it before....so I know it can happen again now.
Not trying to be a big bummer here....just wonderin'

No need to fear unless you have dinner money in the PM markets. Sure the bear market could last decades but it probably won't and we'll likely start another bull run before the decade is out.

Try to have fun with metals and don't stress out over things you cannot control. It's not a bummer if you can laugh at yourself and realize how lucky you really are. Peace out.

No, I only own a tiny bit right now. However, if I owned a bunch and was buried at this point, I'd be a bit fearfull.

My greatest fear is that the government will get its financial affairs in order---balanced budget and pay down the national debt. This would certainly take the luster off PM's.

Worry is the interest you pay on a debt you may not owe.

Seeing as to how the government has been doing the opposite of that and PMs have tanked, "getting its financial affairs in order" may be necessary to get PMs back in the precious category.

    Yikes. We're doomed.

With the entitlement mentality of the average voter it would take a dictatorship.

Worry is the interest you pay on a debt you may not owe.

Not at all - my PMs were purchased as an insurance policy. If they collapse in price, it means that my other assets (pensions, money in the bank, stocks, etc.) should be OK. The PMs were bought just in case inflation took off and the other assets declined in purchasing power.

I had no interest in putting all my eggs in one basket or becoming a flipper so, no, no worries about declining PMs at all.

I'm concerned with the $1 QUAD in derivative's debt-money out there and markets run up on QE the past 4 years. Not a bit concerned about PMs though.

Cohodk mentioned something about the lowest job claims in over 40 years. That can be said of the HUI to Gold ratio as well. Except that goes back to 1942 before you will find anything lower. This has already "lasted decades" in this specific example. Reversion to the mean?

Not fearfull. My stack is what it is and I hope to not touch it for 20 years other than to add or do GSR swaps when applicable to swap for yellow again.

Fairly comfortable with an asset allocation that includes exposure to the risks and rewards of stocks, real estate, numismatic coins, precious metal bullion, and misc. other objects of desire including green and digital US dollars.

Roadrunner, Too bad people, companies and PMS are all different types of entities. Otherwise we could make a blanket statement and cover them all.

Regarding PMs, I think most aRe more disallusioned than fearful. Strong belief systems can overwhelm judgement. 5000 years of war in the Middle East is an excellent example.
Excuses are tools of the ignorant

Knowledge is the enemy of fear
