I live 10-15 min away from Rosemont. I hope I will make it this year. Last year I had only 2-3 hours after work to run through the floor and found 2 coins from my favorite dealer - Karl Stephens
I used to be somebody, now I'm just a coin collector. Recipient of the coveted "You Suck" award, April 2009 for cherrypicking a 1833 CBHD LM-5, and April 2022 for a 1835 LM-12, and again in Aug 2012 for picking off a 1952 FS-902.
Don't forget to check out the exhibits, which are in Hall D not on the bourse floor. The exhibit area opens at 10 a.m. on Tuesday and at 8 a.m. the rest of the show and closes 6 p. m. every night.
As Q. David Bowers told me you can always learn something in the exhibit area.

Well, everyone's entitled to their opinion. I don't think it's a bad place to live, but then, I grew up here. Enjoy the show if you go (I've still never made a major coin show, ANA or otherwise -- too busy/conflicts with working at the Chicago Comic-con each summer.)
To the first timer, here is some advice. #1: Take plenty of money, if possible double or triple your original budget. You will see many coins that you will want. #2: If you see a coin that works for your collection buy it right then. If you think it will still be there in an hour or two while you think about it you're wrong. Someone wiser than you will have bought it. #3: Once your wallet/purse is depleted look at the competitive displays. Go to the PCGS table and admire the collections that some of the top collectors have decided to share with the rest of us. #4 When leaving the show room take off your name badge and put it in your pocket. Do not draw attention to the fact that you are a collector. #5 Have fun and be careful.
Been a while since I've been on here. Anyways, I will be there on Thursday 8/13 and Friday 8/14. Part of the time will be volunteering for the Chicago Coin Club.

I wil be there with lots of error coins, table #1628 "Sullivan Numismatics. I'm also happy to do free error coin attributions or appraisals as time permits, so bring any error you've questions about.

You just need to know where and how to go IMHO. Just like NYC, Boston, LA, etc. What are other interests?
I grew up ~3.5 hours away and love the city. And red meat.
