Do you have coins that you "Must" buy before June 30th?

DaveWcoinsDaveWcoins Posts: 1,185 ✭✭✭
The reason I ask this is -- as a dealer I received 2 orders just this afternoon from folks who told me they were upgrading their Registry sets and wanted to do so prior to the June 30th deadline.

Its happened before in mid-years and ends-of-years in the past, but it still surprises me a bit when it occurs.

Its a very interesting phenomenon.

I do. But only after a huge sum of money via lottery I have not played yet comes in.

The first week in July -- June 30 is the last date that coins can be added to count for this year.

    No,

But I bought a coin from a private collection that I am not allowed to discuss/show until after the registry prizes are awarded. I don't care as I am not a registry participant so it was not a problem with me that this individual wanted to keep it in his set for the time being.

    No "Must" buys for me.
Looks like I'll be in the bottom 10% for another year.

I did not buy any, but I did get some attributed at PCGS to ensure I was over the 95% mark for set completion.

Not anymore. I ain't that crazy to spend top $$$ to move to the top. In the last Long Beach show, I saw a coin in auction that can push my set from third to the top. Unfortunately, the coin did not meet my standards and I passed it. I just don't want to spend a few thousand dollars to buy a PCGS top set award certification image

No... deadlines, competition, must haves.... none of these factor in to my collecting. I buy what I like, when I see it. Cheers, RickO

Until they come up with a "Collectible Holder" registry, I'm safe.

I concur with RickO's above quoted post. -- However, every now and then a superlative eye-appealing coin will speak to me saying "Buy Me" image

I have deadlines at work. I don't need them in my hobbies.

No - I don't play the registry game nor care about it. Nor do I believe one needs the highest grade for that issue to fill a hole, Good condition is ok enough for a filler. VF is adequate.

For a type set I can see where having the best grade one can afford for that type slot can be a factor.

No. I use the registry to share, not to compete.

    Hey, me too.
I think its great for organizing, keeping track and sharing.

I consider the ranking part entertainment.
