I manage money. I earn money. I save money .
I give away money. I collect money.
I don’t love money . I do love the Lord God.

The obverse says it all about him!

Appearantly the Swiss Republcian Club did not care the artist's three quarters facing design of Grant and asked for the profile view instead. There are fewer than ten known examples of this medal. This is only one I've ever had a chance to own.
<< <i>This is the more common version of a medal by Swiss die maker, Hugues Bovy. The Swiss Republican Club issued these pieces during Grant's 1868 presidential campaign. Here is an example of the rarer design.

BillJones, Thanks for posting as that's a beautiful example as even the clasp on the bezel for 1868 is like a fine Swiss time piece.
Grant on the obverse looks very much like the 1868 Scovill design by Ellis...
1868 Ulysses S. Grant, Presidential Campaign, DeWitt-USG-1868-31, 28 mm Diameter, Copper
An unlisted metal type in Copper unknown to J. Doyle DeWitt & Edmund B. Sullivan in his revision as USG-1868-31 is listed as only having been issued in Brass. The die-sinking was done by Mr. Jarvis E. Ellis an engraver employed at Scovill Manufacturing Co. in Waterbury, Connecticut. Although similar to the more commonly seen 30 variety on the 31 obverse Ellis added a forth star on Grant's shoulder and wrinkles on his forehead. Wrongly attributed as a variety 30 by NGC and as the correct 31 variety it's 1 of only 2 known struck in Copper.
