I like the new guys in the room!

They just posted the results of small submission I made:

1 1 32440911 5023 1940 10C, FB USA MS67FB--> was NGC 66 FB
2 1 32440912 6615 1942-D 50C USA MS66-->was NGC 65
3 1 32440913 6629 1946-S 50C USA MS66-->was NGC 65 CAC
4 1 32440914 4905 1916 10C Mercury, FB USA MS66FB-->was PCGS 64 FB CAC

I think I had at least three Truviewed too since they had some attractive toning. Can't wait to see them. Perhaps this will serve to cushion the results from my unopened MoD set results also sent in at the same time.

    I cracked out all the NGC, but sent the PCGS in the old holder and asked them to crack out and grade raw because I did not have time to crack it out myself before shipping.

    Wow. Good eye! Did you acquire them thinking about this possibility?

    No, I bought all the NGC coins because I needed them and liked the coin. But I prefer my coins in PCGS plastic. So I try to buy coins that I think will likely cross at grade which is all I really want to do. I don't submit much, maybe 15 NGC coins in total. One dropped a grade, 9 crossed at grade, and 5 upgraded.

    I cracked out all the NGC >>

    That's how you gotta do it, good stuff. I'm not sure why so many people do crossovers when they'll probably get better results doing crackouts.

    In my last submission I had an AU55 graded flying eagle get MS62 (it wasn't previously in one of the top 3 TPG holders). If I hadn't cracked that one out before sending it in, I imagine it would have been spit on... and then "properly" graded AU53 image

    Buying that 16 Merc in a 64 holder must've been an easy decision.

    It's a credit to NGC to have graded so stringently.

    Here is the one coin I crossed that dropped a point.
    image
    It was in a NGC 66 fatty holder. I tried crossing at 66 and it didn't. So I tried again at 65 and it crossed. Subsequently, I sent it to CAC and it got a green bean. So I am happy. The NGC MS66 fatty PPIE quarter eagle that I sent in at the same time crossed at MS 66 and also got a green bean from CAC.

    Though it looks flat in the Truview, the purple and green highlights in the toning have a slight electric quality to them in the right light. This is my favorite coin of all that I own, hands down.
