$1.4 Million offer

At 2pm eastern one of the coin TV sales shows are selling rolls of V nickels and the host advises the audience that if you find a 1913 in the unsearched rolls we send you, he will personally give you $1.4 million for it.
I know it is walking a tightrope, but shouldn't practices like this be false advertising and /or fraud or something?
I have to believe that potential hobbyists are being turned off from coin collecting by the thousands weekly.

Only if they believe that there were six or more 1913 V nickels made at the US Mint and at least one of them might show up in one of the rolls that are being sold on TV. Steveimage

I'd like to see them fork over $1.4 MILL for a Good 1913 Lib nickel. image

Even though I don't care for the 1913 Liberty Nickel, $1.4 million would be bargain, except, of course, if it was in Good or AG. That might be worth less.

Currently I could send him 5 - 1913 V - Nickels. I'd only want $50 each but there would be no returns. Sold as is. No gaurantees.

If I were supplying these rolls to the TV marketers, I'd be tempted to salt the rolls with a few fake 13's, just for kicks.

I think more collectors are turned away from the hobby when they take the items they've bought from these type of sellers- and entertain offers from their local coin shops, who are the accused of attempting to rip them off, while offering them closer to what the items are really worth.

And if you find an impressionist painting, Chippendale furniture, or Tiffany lamp in the rolls, he'll generously buy those from you, too.

Is this the same guy that seeds rolls of cents with 2 1/2 dollar gold coins?

AND, I might add, a classic example of the dealers in this thread.
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

A very safe offer for several reasons.... these con men do not make offers they will have to honor. Cheers, RickO

The marketer doesn't specify that any '13 found needs to be deemed authentic?...lmao

There's a sucker born every minute. And he usually chases the huckster who's pulling his chain or leg. Not his own chain or leg, mind ya. Only the viewer's or listener's who act without exercising due diligence. So with that said, thanks for the news. I think I'll go buy a roll, suckers. image (not really)
