I thought it was the strongest June Long Beach in many many years. Thursday was very busy, as was Friday until around 2. Saturday had a lot of attendees as well.

No, don't be ridulous. However, do you really care to see a photo of what she has for dinner?

Let's get back to my original request.

I came away empty handed, but it was the best attended, busiest and most varied vendor filled show in a long time. You tend to see this show as the Morgan Dollar and Gold dealers only show, but not this time. I think they had a few not often seen dealers at this show so I would say whatever you collect, you could find it. There were more Dollar Bill dealers and probably the most foreign coin dealers I have ever seen under one roof. Despite not cherry picking a single coin, I enjoyed it. BTW, Charmy was just too busy every time I saw her to even say hello.

I sold well into the six figures and received an $8,000 offer for the coin that was only supposed to be worth $4,000. I didn't take it because it was not from a widow. image

Actually, yes I do. One of the funnest things we do when we are traveling is go to cool restaurants, and Charmy's taste is top notch in that category. I also enjoy the shots of the ugly mugs contrasted with the cute lady from Anacs. I was not trying to be "ridulous"!

    I walked the floor.

I opened my CC bill this yesterday and went white.

For the kid, I bought 1 worked over chinese cash coin of dubious authenticity for $5. That, and I officially have an unnamed white whale.

I did manage to run across this, which summed up, not the feeling of moderns shown on the floor, but some of the classics shown on the floor. The moderns were on display, and I guess they aren't old enough to look beat. The end of the show classics were not presented well. I guess it is hard to present a common morgan in common grade with eye unappealing toning.... (these are the coins of the working man.... (perhaps another registry set "class")). And perhaps this is where LS was coming from in a recent HT thread here talking about dreck and grading better blindfolded. If finding a classic in stellar condition was easy, they'd be cheaper and we'd all have them. They'd be more like ..... moderns. eh? (previous comments re: past price paid, wanting to ask high for various unknown reasons, etc. also to be taken into account again.)

    image
(permission was granted to take the photo)

Oh, and I did notice the crowd here seems so much more upscale...

The market really seems to be strengthening - we saw a huge increase in sales the week after Pogue (mostly on the high end, as you might expect). Long Beach started out slow, but I managed six figures in sales on Saturday morning...

image I saw that one he had a lot of silver on his table. I tried to buy a commend date Morgan $200 over gray sheet and he did not want to dance so he passed on it I think it was a 1885-O in MS66 @ $485 I offered $400 he said no!! Crazy man said he does not need to sell. I was going to say then why are you here. But did not want to get in all of that crap he did have some nice coins but $200 to $300 over sheet on Morgan's I'll buy them down the road for less at auction, But the show was fun went a bit crazy.

There was another dealer at the bitter end. Someone wanted to unload a half ounce Mexico Libertad at melt. No bite unless it's $20 back because their wholesaler isn't open until monday.

With the PM deals I see on ebay during the weekends, there must be a way to hedge over the weekend. Even if not and it's pre-hedged Friday, it would seem the volume of business on weekend would make for an opportunity for a hedger to have Sat and Sun hours.

No grudge. It is funny to me that AMRC uses his $8k offer to refute TDN's $4k estimate while maintaining a ridiculous $28k asking price (yes I know, make an offer).

I think it is unethical to lament someone being buried in a coin and then try to bury someone else in it as an exit strategy for a client. Sorry if you disagree.

Her reports are not for you, but maybe you should just keep it to yourself. Do not open the thread if it bothers you that much. I appreciate any report from the shows regardless of the content. You are asking for someone to spend time and effort to post a report, but you want it tailored to your likes. Kind of selfish if you ask me. Accept what you get and disregard what you do not like. Charmy is one of the best dealers I have worked with. I purchased a coin that ended up at the wrong address. I went to that locations PO and talked to the Manager. Said they would talk to the carrier. The next day I get a call from the Manager saying she had my coin. Super A++ ending.

Charmy still gave me a discount on my next coin due to my efforts in trying to find the coin I had purchased.

How many dealers would do that?

It seems to me that Yorkshireman wasn't criticizing Charmy or even her posts. Yes, he did say what he said harshly, but what he actually said was that he wanted to see coins and not the social scene.

I think it's ok not to care about the social scene, just as it's fine to enjoy hearing about the social scene too. But, the OP was specifically asking about coins. Not unreasonable, IMO.

I actually like Charmy's posts, although I know little of her as a dealer. And, I enjoy the social scene too.
