1984 New Zealand Summer Sports - None graded by PSA Size: 2x2.75" approx Manufacturer: Sanitarium Health Food Company Distribution: Food Issue
#15 of 20. Featuring lefty legend, Bob Charles, winner of the 1963 Open Championship and a total of 68 pro wins. Easily one of, if not the best, left-handed golfer prior the Mickelson era. For those who don't like oversize cards and enjoy the hunt, this is 6 years prior to his Pro Set "rookie" and the earliest card I can find featuring him other than the 77-79 Sportscasters (he's on the front of the golf Glossary A-G card).
1975 Mister Softee Ltd Famous Sports Trophies - none graded by PSA that I can find Size: 2.25x2.25" approx. Manufacturer: Mister Softee Distribution: Ice Cream?
1954 Quaker Sports Oddities Size: Standard Manufacturer: Quaker Oats Distribution: Puffed Wheat and Rice cereal
Card #s 2 (shown) & 9 Bill Wilson. Snite, Sr. hit hole-in-ones on back-to-back days in a tournament on the same hole with the same club, but is probably better known for bringing his son Snite, Jr. to sporting events in an iron lung.
#24 of 50 Appears to be a reissue of Primrose's 1963 4th series with different backs. I have the thin variety (paper like stock), though there is a thick (heavier stock) variety available as well. The 1963s have an address on Argyle Ave, while the 70s have a Farnham Road address.
<< <i>#93 commemorates Andy North's 27 strokes for 9 holes in 1975. >>
that is a record that i woulda thought stood forever, until pavin's 26 at the '06 us bank.
i, mean a twenty-freaking-six!
edit: same as north's as it was a par 34 vs 35, but still. a 26. >>
I'm right there with ya, though any record that holds for 30+ years is still quite impressive. Pavin was on fire for 9 holes that day and it's about time for another late night golf channel rerun of that. Here's the golf record that will never be broken: CRBTF
Three 90s sets to start it off today and then a run through my 1925s... 1992 The River Group the Elvis Collection Size: Standard Manufacturer: The River Group Distribution: Packs/Sets?
I guess Elvis was a big fan of golf carts. #s 223, 226, 231, and 372 are the golf cart cards in this set
1993 Spoofy Tunes Series 1 - Hard to believe none of these have been graded by PSA Size: Standard Manufacturer: Butthedz Trading Cards Distribution: Packs/Sets?
1926 W512 Hand Cut Size: about 1/2" shorter than tobacco Manufacturer: Unknown Distribution: Strips
#39 Needs a bit of a trim job before subbing for my Hagen registry. This set is probably familiar to any pre-war baseball/boxing collectors as well, a variety set containing baseball players, boxers, movie stars/celebrities (like Jackie Coogan ), and other athletes.
#s 15-17. Mentions of Hagen (1922 & 1924) and Bobby Jones (1926) on the back of #15 (Open Championship). There are also large versions of the first two, #d 7 & 8 in that set.
1931 British American Tobacco Do You Know Size: Tobacco Manufacturer: BAT Distribution: Smokes
#22 A set that appears to be a direct copy of the 1924 Wills Do You Know series (also copied by United Tobacco Companies in 1930). Those two both identify who distributed them on the back, where this one doesn't. Similar to how you can tell the difference between a 1926 L&B Bobby Jones rookie and the 1927 BAT Bobby Jones. All three are noted '2nd Series of 50'.
#4 A very tough card to find, I was happy to at least win this one while getting blown out of the water on most of last Sundays vintage golf cards. There's also a standard tobacco sized version of this card, #4 in that set as well.
#38 Depending who you believe, there are said to be 3 (PSA) or 4 (Beckett) back variations. I have only found two of the only golfer in the set, D/Type 1 & C/Type 3. I've seen many of these cards mislabeled in the holder and none of the Type 2s I've seen were actually missing the card number. Babe Ruth is the most sought after card in this German set.
Beckett: A - Sanella centered, no card number B - Sanella at bottom, no card number C - Sanella at bottom, with card number D - Sanella centered, with card number
PSA: Type 1 - Sanella Centered Type 2 - Sanella at Bottom (no #) Type 3 - at Bottom w/#
#16 and the most popular card in this set, accounting for 107 of the 131 submissions. Features Bobby Jones putting on the 17th during the Amateur Golf Championship and since he is mentioned on the back is part of the Bobby Jones Master set.
#s 1, 30, & 31 Each card comes in two varieties, with and without the name on front (notated in the pop as 'W/Caption' or no notation). Also known as 1st Series in some guides since they produced a 2nd Series with different subjects the following year
Those are really nice Kyle - I have seen them before - I used to buy from a guy on ebay from England - can't remember the name - something like creamofcards or something?
Nice guy with loads of cool sets from across the pond.

<< <i>Your golf collection is incredible - tho I'm bit biased and like Larkin better. >>
Mike - Thanks! I'll have to see if that's one of my sources or try to track them down. It's getting hard to find new items for the golf or the Larkin collection, but I'm hoping to work out a deal for a bunch of Larkin oddballs in the near future.
ETA: I found the seller you mentioned, but doesn't look like he's been active in over a year: Link
First card of the 2000s in this thread Guessing these were passed out at the event or as a promotion prior in the sealed pack shown above. Tiger is the only card in this 'set', no number on the back.
