Brief ebay rant... talk is cheap, how about a FVF discount?!

I've been selling coins on ebay for years - well into the six figures.
I've bent over backwards to keep all manner of problem buyers happy to maintain my 100% Pos. FB and all 5/5 DSRs.
I used to be a "PowerSeller" with a 20% FVF discount.
Now, despite that I have the best possible Seller ratings, 100% compliance, perfect seller dashboard, etc I get no FVF discount SOLELY because I don't sell 100 items/year despite that I sell many items in the several hundred to several thousand dollar range.
I got the below message from ebay today. I was thinking that while I appreciate the small perks, sellers who have a many year track record of hundreds of sales with perfect seller ratings should be able to have Top Rated status and the FVF discount. When they used to have Powersellers, attaining PS status and the discount was a combo of number of items sold and price of the items. Higher price, less items required.
I just don't have the time to sell a bunch of cheap junk just to buff my numbers. Further, ironically I find the buyers of lower priced items to be more difficult than those of higher priced items.
Of course, my opinion means jack to ebay but had to vent. I know that others on this forum feel the same way.
Now, back to regular programming. Sorry for the rant :-)

Here's how we protected your selling account
Hi ,
Thanks for consistently delivering exceptional service to your buyers. We're here to provide you a marketplace where you can sell with confidence. That's why we've taken the following steps during the past month to protect your account:
Automatically set 3 of your detailed seller rating(s) to 5 stars from qualifying transactions
We've already updated your seller dashboard to reflect these changes, which are for transactions made during the past year. When we remove transaction defects, your transaction defect rate may not go down if you had transactions that received more than one defect.
We'll continue to improve our monitoring, detection systems, and policies to protect sellers like you. To see these updates, go to your seller dashboard.

I think someone would almost have to be crazy to put high value items on eBay. The scammers, unreasonable buyers, free returns, defects, items hidden in search, etcetera have become too much. In five years, eBay could be little more than a memory. You can't abuse your customers consistently and expect to succeed.

<< <i>Doesn't seem like it would be that big a deal to sell a few cheap items a year to keep your transactions over 100. H! You could just give a way a few $50 coins and come out to the good with your FV Fee discount! Sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do....just like the free shiping BS! >>
They can certainly do what they want. Just seems so absurd.
I'll have to consider the hassle factor of selling items just to buff numbers.
The Free Shipping BS has certainly gotten a lot harder to deal with w/the new USPS Insurance rates. Of course, the 20% FVF discount is supposed to partially compensate for the free shipping that one essentially must offer to get the discount.
Buying, that's different.

Simple requirement to meet, just list a lot of cheap items to maintain the 100 per year. I do it with individual silver eagles. When my seller dashboard shows me getting back down near 100 I just throw some more ASEs out there.

I get the exact same message every month....................it's more or less a robo-email for sellers that do not do a volume of sales.
I lost my Power Seller status a year or more back and then lost my Top Rated Seller Status despite a last minute effort of some near give aways.
Today, I'll just plug along and pay no never mind to eBay and their best efforts at getting me to have more "give aways".
The name is LEE!
List a 5 dollar item and I will nail your ratings for you to lessen the pain you feel.
NGC registry V-Nickel proof #6!!!!

In your case, list 50 wheat pennys for $.02 each, in different auctions, list it as a stock photo, with LOCAL PICK UP ONLY, No Paypal.
You will get feedback trolls who "buy" the item, leave positive feedback in return for positive feedback, and you mark it as paid.
Pops the number up quickly.
Now as I am liquidating a lot of material (fed up with the market, etc) I will achieve that quantity for sure. Not the way I want to get there but the time has come for more reasons than one.

If anything is claimed as lost refund it.
You'll be ahead for the effort of mailing.
I always open an ebay store to get discounted FVF if only for a month and than I close it down after I am finishing selling. I won't waste my time selling a 100 items to get a better rating either.

fUNNY HOW I had my Caps Lock key on
Funny how that works, ain't it? Ironic but true.
eBay has jumped the shark in many ways, but I'm still an occasional seller and bidder. It's still the 800-lb gorilla of auction sites, and hard to beat for selection (if you're a buyer) or eyes on your merchandise (if you're a seller), and global spread.
It will offset the fees. Just like dividends from CLCT pays for my annual membership fees.

Been doing that for years....no big thing. It's worth the 20% discount on top of a 6% FVF
I knew it would happen.

This strategy may not get you there. If I remember correctly, you also have to provide tracking; if you have below 95% or so that you did not provide tracking number, your seller rating will suffer also?
Ebay always seems to make up a set of requirements that can always seem to trip you up. I think the goal is to keep you selling more and more in trying to meet the levels, but then never seem to stay there for very long....

10 4.....1 oz of common ASE's, bars or rounds with $2.05 in s&h. should do it. Consider them "loss leaders"
